Pop superstar Madonna's Re-Invention tour has been slammed by American critics - for overloading the show with "naive" political statements. The "American Life" singer, 45, kicked off the US leg of her tour in California on Monday but failed to impress critics with her attempts to "wipe the slate clean" by ditching her trademark raunchy routines. The Los Angeles Times sniped, "This promised to be Madonna's tour de force, a reappraisal that put her work in new and revealing contexts. But time and again she fell short of the challenge." Many critics were unimpressed by the images of the Iraq war, injured civilian children and US soldiers, saying Madonna should look back to her past concert tours for inspiration. Others suggested her cover of John Lennon classic "Imagine," throughout which a hard-hitting video featuring Israeli and Palestinian children walking hand in hand was played, was ill-conceived. The Californian newspaper added, "Madonna traded most of the old sexual teasing for social commentary, and she's no John Lennon, friends." The New York Times concurred, "Madonna is far too slippery - and far too savvy - for this sort of faux-naive sentimentalism." Tabloid The New York Post added, "Madonna's blonde ambition is fading to bland."
Wow - she make all the right sympathetic grunting sounds and those nasty ol' jihadists still threaten to kidnap her children. I wonder if she has operating synapses sufficient to make the connection?

Ramzi I heard even watched 911 on his personal TV set and this after threatening to make them fall down after he was arrested)and look where it got us, terror attacks almost every year, our Navy attacked, our embassies attacked, and finally 911. I say finally, because Bush stopped that madness, and they have the gall to complain? Some prick blows up your house you don`t kiss his butt. Why? Because HE WILL DO IT AGAIN!! It`s the same with any creep, if a guy robs a bank and nobody does anything to him, what do you think he`s going to do next? ROB A BANK! Why can`t liberals comprehend that? It`s freggin` common sense but then again liberals have no common sense, they really don`t.

You know, I have been observing this site for years. Within the last year or so with the onset of this war and everything that has transpired since 9/11 something has become very clear. There has been a hard divide between liberal and conservative ideology since the 60's.
There are people that I am related to who are hell bent in an effort to make this country "understand" the rest of the world. America, to them, is a phrase that denotes bad and evil. Euro-think is the way of the future for them. I see no gray area's.
There was a time when a discussion would end where you agree to disagree. Today, when you look into their eyes you see a possessed being with one thing in mind, the distruction off everything that this country stands for.
Maybe it's me, but I see no end to this constant battle. I hope my kids see a reversal in this trend.

At leeast Streisand has a good voice --- Madonna is about as mediocre of a talent as they come. Streisand --- as bad as she is politically got to keep her clothes on because she had talent --- can't say that for Madonna.

Well since she cancelled her Israel concerts, my guess is she wouldn't tour and will put on a burqa.

I take it you missed her book. And I don't mean the children's book.
Hats off to her for finally trying to use her brain after all these years, I guess-- but that brain has never been in good working order, as is evident from her politics. And her audience is not paying to see Madonna's brains OR videos of starving kids.
