Conspiracy theories about how the kidnapped American died in Iraq are flying around the world. Richard Neville explores the explanations.

Iraq in flames, Washington an object of disgust. What to do? At this pivotal moment, CNN and Fox News are tipped off to a clip of an American citizen being beheaded. The victim is a 26-year-old idealist from Pennsylvania, Nick Berg. Despite the perpetrators being masked, the vile deed is deemed the work of al-Qaeda.

The clip was first "discovered" on an Islamic website in Malaysia. Its Arabic title reads "Abu Musab al-Zarqawi shown slaughtering an American". al-Zarqawi is a 38-year-old Jordanian militant who fled to Iraq in 2001 after reportedly losing a leg in a US missile strike. al-Zarqawi's face is widely known and he credits himself with the deed, so why a mask?

The timing of the video was brilliant for the West. Media pundits judged the crime a deeper evil than the systemic torture of innocent Iraqis. But some people sensed a rat. But if it was not al-Qaeda, who? Surely not Uncle Sam. That's too dark, even for the CIA.

The Indymedia post claims "An Internet hate group called "Free Republic" targeted Nick Berg's father and company on an enemies list two weeks before the son was detained by Iraqi police."

The so-called "Hit list" is a reproduction of an A.N.S.W.E.R. web page advertising a rally. In other words, it's not a "hit list" of any sort. Some nutjob on Indymedia just represented it as such... and you just accepted it as fact withoug doing so much as a simple web search to verify.

You will notice, interestingly enough, that A.N.S.W.E.R. has subsequently REMOVED Michael S. Berg's name from the webpage. Here is the (now edited) "original" list from Indymedia. http://www.internationalanswer.org/campaigns/m20/endorsers.html

Somebody on another thread did find corporation papers filed for Prometheus Methods Tower Systems. They were filed in Virginia IIRC.

They like to leave a lot of things out... but since they are into conspiracy theories, here's one to fire back at them:

Amr Ibrahim Elgindy aka Anthony Elgindy, the guy accused of short-selling his kids' stock portfolios on September 10, 2001, the day before the 9/11 attacks on the USA and the guy who had some really shady dealings involving bribery & insider trading info with FBI agents named Jeffrey Royer & Lynn Wingate, has a brother named Khaled Elgindy.

Khaled Elgindy is affiliated with the charity 'Life for Relief and Development' , which was formerly known as 'International Relief association,' which was founded in 1993.

This organization is still active in Iraq as of the spring of 2004. 'Life for Relief and Develoment' paid McDermott's way to Iraq just before the war- remember the Baghdad Trio of congressmen who went over there to kiss Saddam Hussein's arse? McDermott, of course, is the guy who received the illegal tape a Florida couple made of a private republican conference call including Newt Gingrich... a tape of notable quality for a couple with a 'common' scanning device.

Does anyone here remeber the date the tape was made? Was there any legislation relating to Iraq pending around that time?

But even before that, Khaled Elgindy delivered 'Humanitarian aid to Iraq' in May 1998 with the group 'International relief Association.' Khaled Elgindy was- or maybe still is- President of the Washington DC Chapter of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee aka ADC-DC; this group held a 'Teach-In' as part of a campaign by guess who? The 'International Action Center.' Note that the International Action Center is Ramsey Clark's organization. The Teach-In was also sponsored by thers and was conducted worldwide.

Anthony & Khaled Elgindy's father is Ibrahim Elgindy, who founded a consortium of Muslim organizations in Chicago and spearheaded a protest in 1998 on behalf of Muhammad A Salah, who is linked to Hamas.

The Elgindy's seem to have some 'charitable' interest in the Balkans-Anthony Elgindy imported a number of refugees from the Balkans and helped them settle in the US. This is of concern since al Qaeda also was operating in the Balkans and used charityorganizations for its purposes.

They were also embedded in Democrat politics.

Note that another person, al Khafaji, bribed former UNSCOM inspector Scott Ritter with $400,000 for a 'Documentary' is also a financial supporter of the same charity 'Life for Relief and Development' as is Khaled Elgindy. Since al-Khafaji is one of the 270+ individuals on Saddam Hussein's Oil-for-Food bribery payroll, it's possible that Saddam Hussein was funding 'Life for Relief and Development' through Khafaji- and 'Life for Rellief and Development as noted before, paid thoussands of dollars to cover Congressman McDermott's expenses to and in Iraq on his Baghdad Trio 'fact-finding' mission.

Al-Khafaji also donated to Cynthia McKinney's campaign around the time of the WTC attacks, I believe.

Dr Ghanim Al-Jumaily is the current 2004 Chief Executive Officer of Life for Relief and Development, by the way. I don't know much about him and don't know if the group has been purged of undesirables.

As for Ramsey Clark, here are some dates he was in Iraq:

NOVEMBER 1990 : (RAMSEY CLARK MEETS WITH HUSSEIN IN BAGHDAD, IRAQ) In November 1990, Clark flew to Baghdad to meet with Saddam, who allowed him to return with a few hostages. - "THE MYSTERIOUS RAMSEY CLARK," By Manny Goldstein

FEBRUARY 1991 : (RAMSEY CLARK IS IN BASRA, IRAQ) In February, with the bombs falling, Clark was in Basra, Iraq's southern port, witnessing the destruction. That same year, when Ramsey Clark's big cause was defending the Iraqi regime and slamming Kuwait, Ramsey Clarke founded the IAC, the same IAC which organized the protests also used by groups like those of Khaled Elgindy.

1991 : (WWP FORMS NEW FRONT GROUP CALLED INTERNATIONAL ACTION CENTER, IAC) With Clark's name-recognition and homespun, avuncular image, WWP [Worker's World Party] had the opportunity to form a new front group to win over naive liberals. This was the International Action Center (IAC), which remains the top vehicle for Clark's ego and WWP's play for hegemony over the fragmented remnants of the left. IAC/WWP's politics went from bad to worse as Yugoslavia descended into chaos. By 1998, Ramsey Clark was revving up the left's antisanctions engines again as Iraq was giving the US and UN the proverbial finger.

JANUARY 28, 1998 : (RAMSEY CLARK SENDS LETTER TO UN'S KOFI ANNAN) "The Security Council and the General Assembly should immediately admonish the United States that it must not commit any armed assault, or other grave threats to peace, against Iraq. It should condemn the repeated uses of false propaganda employed to create fear and hatred toward Iraq such as the recent false claims that photographs proved Iraq tested chemical weapons against prisoners. Note that 1998 was the time Khaled Elgindy was becoming more active in sanctions-busting endeavors.

Ramsey Clark has also been the defender of the bombers of the US embassies in Africa as well as the first WTC conspirators, notably Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman. It was he who pushed Attorney Lynn Stewart into aiding Rahman. She in turn enabled the Sheikh to issue orders and fatwas for further terrorist attacks from his prison cell with the help of others, incuding US postal worker Sattar. Lynne's in a bit of trouble for this today...

Thanks to Lynne Stewart and Ramsey Clark, Rahman was able to set up Northern Alliance leader Massoud in distant Afghanistan. He was assassinated by al Qaeda terrorists posing as journalists and cameramen a few days before the September 11 attacks on the US.
