Oklahoma City bomber Terry Nichols met with World Trade Center bomber Ramzi Yousef in the Philippines before he and Timothy McVeigh carried out their plot, investigative reporter Jayna Davis said Wednesday.
"Terry Nichols and Ramzi Yousef met personally in the Philippines on the island of Mindanao in the early 1990s to discuss, of all things, bombmaking," Davis told ABC Radio Network host John Batchelor.
On Wednesday, an Oklahoma jury returned a 161 count murder verdict against Nichols. He is expected to face the death penalty. But the bizarre Yousef-Nichols tie-in did not come up in the trial.
Davis said she didn't think Nichols would ever discuss his relationship with Yousef, who devised a plot known as Operation Bojinka, a kamikaze airliner hijacking plan that became the blueprint for the 9/11 attacks.
"Sources close to the defense have told me, and this comes from recorded conversations with his wife, Lana Padilla, that Terry Nichols is going to remain clammed up for the rest of his natural days on earth," Davis told Batchelor.
"He wants to protect his son Joshua from any retaliation," she added. Filipino police informant, Edwin Angeles, who first detailed meetings between Yousef and Nichols, was assassinated in 1998.
Yousef's partner in the Bojinka plot, Abdul Hakim Murad, was apprehended by Filipino police in 1994 and taken to New York to stand trial. On the morning of the OKC bombing, Murad summoned his jailers to tell them he and Yousef were connected to the crime. Later that day Murad gave the FBI a written confession.
Just months before his own June 2001 execution for the crime, Timothy McVeigh referred to both Yousef and Osama bin Laden in a letter to Fox News Channel's Rita Cosby.
"Collateral Damage? As an American news junkie; a military man; and a Gulf War veteran, where do they think I learned that? (It sure as hell wasn't Osama Bin Laden!)," he wrote in April 2001.
In the next sentence, McVeigh mentioned Yousef.
"For all else, I would refer you to my enclosed paper 'Hypocrisy,' and to Ramzi Yousef's statement to the court just prior to his sentencing. I filter all labels and insults thusly."
In the Jan. 8, 1998, court statement to which McVeigh referred, Yousef proclaimed, "Yes, I am a terrorist and proud of it as long as it is against the U.S. government," before being sentenced to 240 years in jail.
*ping*
There will be.
Yep, I would love to see a real investigation into where the "Oil for Food" money went, someone should audit Annan, Albright, Clinton and all their commie cohorts.
Maybe Jamie Gorelick never told her...
UN investigations, as in other Leftist investigations, imply "we pay you a lot of money to investigate, and you don't find anything". Kofi Anan and "Clinton the First" have this in common -- they both preside(d) over organized crime syndicates.
The 1993 World Trade Center bombing was supposed to be the ultimate retaliation by Saddam Hussein for the first Gulf War. But it failed; the bomb was not powerful enough to bring down the towers. Still determined to bring down the towers, Saddam and his Al Qaeda henchmen had to come up with some new plans, and these had to be tested.
1. First, they needed to see if they could build a more powerful bomb. But this could not be tried out on the WTC itelf because of the possibility of failure and arrest again. So they went to a place the Americans would least expect, a place where there were already a lot of Iraqis and they could blend into the landscape while they plotted their test. Oklahoma City. They already knew Terry Nichols, and it was easy for Nichols to recruit his friend Tim McVeigh to do the dirty work. While that bomb did kill lots of people, it still was not powerful enough to bring down the WTC towers. So truck bombs were abandoned.
2. Ramzi Yousef (the Iraqi) and friends had been fantasizing for a long time about crashing airliners into buildings such as the CIA. At some point, they put two and two together and started thinking about crashing planes into the WTC towers as the best way to bring them down.
3. This time, they knew the plot had to work or they were through. They could not afford to fail again. In order to ensure that the plot would succeed, they needed to know the explosive power of a fully-loaded jumbo jet. So they blew up TWA 800. They got the data they needed, right out of the newspapers that reported every detail of the explosion and the size and spread of the debris. They knew their plan would work. All they needed was time to find the men who would learn to fly the jets and train for the hijackings.
Bill Clinton did nothing about any of this because it was "the economy, stupid" and a war on terror was just not in his game plan. He had the lily-livered Warren Christopher as Secretary of State who would not have supported committing troops if Washington, D.C, itself was being bombed. Plus he got the added bonus of being able to pin McVeigh as a right-wing militia nut, which helped him get reelected. He had to squelch the TWA 800 investigation because it led right back to OKC and to the first WTC bombing.
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my infrequent miscellaneous ping list.
She "missed" it because, as we've all known all along, and we've hear Dick Morris say, Clinton wanted nothing what-so-ever to do with terrorism, or anything like it, and a connection between the terrorists who FIRST bombed the WTC in 1993 and the OKC bombings and McVeigh and Nichols was more than Clinton could handle!!
Given the context, this is most definitely a misuse of the expression "natural days."
Well, call me naive...but I will never believe that McVeigh nor Nichols actually did the deed.
After the fact, we are learning more of terrorism, and I will always think that this was not domestic, but foreign.
I believe they used Americans as dupes.
The strong possibility that Nichols had some contact in the Phillipines with terrorists has been around a long time..Proving it is the problem...
Telling isn't going to get Nichols any slack on the death penalty and he hates the government anyway..Why be helpful?...
The outrage would have been tremendous if McVeigh or Nichols escaped the death penalty in order to get them to reveal they colluded with Islamofascists....
McVeigh and Nichols were ours..our fellow countrymen, so I say they are worse than foreign terrorists.
Oh, I agree......there is a name the terrorists use for dupes such as McVeigh and Nichols. I thinks it's "lily whites" something like that, so they would "blend in" and be less suspect............but Clinton totally shut down at the thought of any amount of public panic or remote connection to terrorism again, after the first WTC bombing, and I think the lid was put on pretty tight and all appearances were made so that it appeared to be a "disgruntled white man" and a "radical militia group from rural MI" who were responsible for OKC. Clinton just wanted to keep his and his wife's fat asses on Air Force 1 and expend the least amount of effort actually "working" as possible!!
This all makes perfect sense. Is this a summary of Jayna Davis's scenario? If not, what is the source of this scenario?
What a load of horse doo-doo
I'll give up my sixshooter when you give up your computer.
Maybe Nichols will spill the truth in exchange for avoiding the needle.
I'll never give up my holy computer. It's the source of all absolute truth, handed down by the one true prophet Bill Gates and guaranteed to bring unerring correctness for five years by Fryes.

Lets not forget about Flt. 800
A computer is not only a tool but a weapon
