Former Vice President Al Gore was to call for the resignation of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and several other Bush administration officials in a scathing attack on the presidents foreign policy Wednesday, people familiar with the speech told The Associated Press.
In a speech at New York University, Gore was to argue that several officials, including National Security Adviser Condoleeza Rice, CIA director George Tenet and a top military leader should step down because the situation in Iraq is out of control.
He was expected to place blame for the Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal directly on the Bush administration officials, who he believes put in place policies of dominance and the disregard for the policy of law, said a source familiar with the speech, speaking to the AP on condition of anonymity.
Gore was to claim that those policies are what led soldiers to abuse prisoners, and that top officials are therefore responsible for the scandal.
Gore was also expected to go after President Bush, arguing that his foreign policy has alienated the United States and put Americans in danger.
The speech was one of several Gore appearances sponsored since August by MoveOn.org; the liberal interest group also has a television and radio ad calling for President Bush to fire Rumsfeld.
In January, Gore attacked the Bush administrations environmental policies.

How about the resignation of one Hanoi John French Kerry?
After all he has been in the Senate all these times and should have been passing legislation to assure all these supposed wrongs were righted if he was really serious about support of our military, that is.

Or as Senator Hollings would put it..."There's too much consumin' goin' on!"

Democrats call for the resignation of those who disagree with them. Scorpions sting. The sun rises in the east. It's nature's way.

What rolls down stairs
alone or in pairs,
and over your neighbor's dog?
What's great for a snack,
And fits on your back?
It's log, log, log
It's log, it's log,
It's big, it's heavy, it's wood.
It's log, it's log, it's better than bad, it's good."
Everyone wants a log
You're gonna love it, log
Come on and get your log
Everyone needs a log

And after Pearl Harbor, FDR, Truman, The Sec Def, MacArthur, all should have just resigned. It was totally out of control.

I saw part of a Nixon documentary on the History Channel a couple of days ago. One of the things I got from that is that the very close 1960 election deeply effected Nixon and made him very cynical regarding politics -- that he assumed cheating was just part of the game.
I think 2000 just destroyed Gore's psyche, but Gore will not make a comeback.

Oh, no, Al...you're not following the RAT talking points correctly. You don't call for the entire Bush cabinet to resign at ONCE, you target a different member each week and come with a focused smear (you know, they're a puppet for "big oil", they cut funding for the save the spider monkey program, etc.)
Of course, you can skip Norm Mineta, since he's one of Clinton's boys and naturally liberals are ONLY "outraged" when Republicans do this stuff. In fact, Norm could have a gun rally and prayer breakfast at Bob Jones University and not ONE of you liberals would notice or care, but that's another story...
