Nashville talk radio host, Steve Gill just completed an interview with Lt. Col. Glen Stringham(sp?) (ret.) who was Karpinski's supervsor while she was a captain at Ft. McPherson near Atlanta, GA.
During the interview, Lt. Col. Stringham indicated that part of his job was to observe and evaluate Karpinski directly during her service at Ft. McPherson. His personal observations of her were less than glowing as he told of a scandal involving Karpinski where 1000 rounds of ammunition under her direct control went missing and was never found and that some sort of discipline was given to Karpinski for the incident for failing to supervise her troops effectively (sound familiar?). He also stated, "I don't know how things are handled in the Reserves, but in the regular Army, she would never have been promoted to her current rank."
Lt. Col. Stringham also indicated that military evaluations of Karpinski showed her performance as substandard.
Steve Gill also hinted that he has several sources (and is working ot verify them) that tell of more than one of BG Karpinski's supervisors were disciplined under Article 15 of the UCMJ for fraternizing with her and possibly Karpinski herself had received an Article 15 discipline.
It is his opinion that Karpinski was kept in the military solely because the feminists wanted her to succeed and that the Army were more afraid of offending the political correctness crowd than getting rid of someone unsuitable for command.
You are exactly right. I saw it happening when I worked at Army Selection Boards 20+ years ago.
This is impossible. No way this could happen in today's Army.
1000 rounds of 5.56 is about the size of a three shoe boxes...
The chick is a fall guy!
There better be.
PC is to our MILITARY as a silver bullet is to a Werewolf.
Rumint is that LTG Sanchez is getting his fourth star. Can't have four shiny things on his shoulders and stay in the job he's in.
As far as Karpinski is concerned, she got her star March of last year, mores the pity. If what this gent says is true, the board was weighted toward females that year. No way she should have been favorably considered.
But then again, didn't the Dems hold up the promotion list last year for some reason or another? Maybe to get her on it?
The Muslim Army Chaplain who was detained at Gitmo for possible espionage activities is yet another example that fits the pattern. He was a West Point graduate who somehow got recalled to the Army as a chaplain. I don't know how that happens unless the Army is hardup for Arabic-speakers.
My wife's cousin was a Navy chaplain and a Catholic. You practically have to have a letter from the Pope to get assigned a chaplain's slot as a Catholic these days. Now if your a Wiccan or a Muslim, it's a whole different story -- but I digress.
The Army is, and has been, at the forefront of raceblind institutions. The color of your skin makes absolutely no difference to them. Obviously, they have taken a different approach when it comes to gender.
She was mighty quick to lawyer-up (as they say) and point the finger of blame at everyone but herself. I immediately thought there was more here than meets the eye. I anxiously await "the rest of the story."
Sanchez certainly deserves it for his was a difficult task. I heard that there were some in Congress threatening to block his nomination (for political reasons having nothing to do with the General). Is the heat off now?
No, she is a BG who f***ed up. Big time. She no doubt stepped on and over anyone in her way to get to be a BG and now that it's time to act like one, she has no idea how to do that. And UGLY!!!
You are right about the Muslim Army Chaplain. And you aren't digressing -- this is the central point here.
We spent so much time in the 1990s (and the 1980s too, I confess) looking elsewhere that we have very few assets in the military for wars in Arabic-speaking countries.
In the military, they have to promote females to prove that the military is an equal promotion society. That means that a lot of sub-standard women are promoted simply because they are women. It is a numbers problem. There are not enough women, and especially good women. I found 75% of the women unable to properly handle and shoot an M16. I ran many rifle qualification ranges and routinely had to have women shoot three or four times as many qualification attempts as a man. Further, women cannot throw a hand grenade very far. That is definitely a problem. Weak upper body is the main reason. Many physical training activities have to be scaled back to a woman's physical capabilities, thus causing men to be scaled back as well. You cannot train the men and women separately because then you have two different views of the mission.
So, many unprepared, untrained, and incapable women are promoted simply because they are women. I saw it happen many times. We would shake our heads wondering how this person got promoted. One case in particular is a female who made it to the top rank of E-9, Sergeant Major, in the Army JAG corp. She was an outstanding "office administrator" and working in the office setting. Top notch. But, she barely passed the PT test, had to shoot all day on a rife range to get a minimum qualification score, could not hold up in the field environment, but made it past many more qualified men simply because they "had" to promote a woman to make things equal.
Now, before you get your shorts in a wad, I had several very capable and qualified women who were in my units. One in particular, was outstanding. Very good shot, strong on PT testing. I gave her outstanding ratings and she retired as a Master Sergeant, E-8. She was top notch. But, my experience found very few of those.
Women have a place in the military in many military positions. However, some are not qualified for the rank that they achieve. This particular LTC mentioned here seems to be one in that mold.
Ok, flamers fire away. Don't care. What I observed and lived, I observed and lived. If facts and such does not change your minds, oh well, I don't much care.
Correct me if my memory has failed me, but I seem to remember a picture of her and that she is not that attractive, to men at least.....
It's a good question to pursue, especially when you add to this the fact that a certifiable loon like Wesley Clark actually earned four stars under the same system that gave us BG Karpinski.
Karpinski is the latest affirmative action soldier to help bring the whole PC structure crashing down.
Karpinski made O-7 in 2001 - after The Reign of Terror.
But I most heartily agree, and concur, on the following things:
- BG K. was a DACOWITS legacy, without doubt;
- Generally, if someone's a screwup while with Big Army, it doesn't follow you into the Reserves or the Guard; we're quite forgiving, that way;
- Arab linguists are in incredible demand across the boards, but it would make no sense for BG K. to be paced in command just for that reason. That's for the 97's (Interrogators) to deal with; a commander wouldn't be conducting sessions, let ALONE a flag-rank officer, let ALONE a female in a Muslim culture;
- I may be guessing here, but I see a disturbing timeline:
The prison garbage surfaces;
Opinion on The War goes south;
SecDef and CJCS are in theater;
LTG Sanchez comes home, without his 4th star;
BG K. is suspended from command - tantamount to relief for cause;
Abu Ghraib is to be demolished.
You should retract that post....it's from a blatant anti-Jewish source.
