This film is propaganda designed to shift the policy of this nation on climate change. At least that's what I take from producer Mark Gordon's comment that "part of the reason we made this movie" was to "raise consciousness about the environment." http://www.naurepublicans.com www.naurepublicans.com http://www.naurepublicans.com

I wasn't going to see it to begin with. But, it does not need a boycott. It is already dead on arrrival! It will bomb big time this weekend! Why? Because the movie just plain stinks! Al Gore and MoveOn.org must be complete morons to even go near this turkey!

Actually the makers of the film are widely regarded as lightweights by the more serious film fans.

Their films have largely duds - Stargate wasn't good but it was watchable, Independence Day was hideously bad, as was their Godzilla.

Seems to me that they are going back to the formula that made them 'hot' - CBI destruction of famous landmarks which they over did in ID4.

Berst bet is that this movie does a gangbusters first weekend. Then word of mouth catches up with it and fades into the background and forgotten.

Talk of boycott only helps the film get word of mouth. Leave it alone -it is almost certainly a poorly made film (given its creative team) and will fade quickly.

Disaster flicks are so 1975. The teenage boys who paid their $3 to see Airport/Earthquake/Poseiden are now in their late 40s.

"The Matrix" is still the best special effects movie ever made. And it had a fascinating plotline.

This movie will make some money, but it will have a net negative return on investment.

No problem there. Most of what comes out in theaters is total crap anyway. This is no exception.

I will boycott because I refuse to watch movies to solely rely on CGI effects as a replacement for a plot.

Why not just let people make up their own minds about the film, instead of your making it up for them?

I can't "boycott" this film since "boycott" implies consciously refraining from seeing this picture.

I never had any intention of seeing this stupid picture, so how can i act as if i *would* go see it, but since i'm boycotting, i *won't* go see it?

I saw the movie just for the pleasure of watching the special effects. It was simple-minded and painfully obvious. The dialogue was putrid and the "science" utterly absurd. If anyone believes that what happens in this piece of fluff is possible, they need to attend a fifth grade science class.

One example, Dennis Quaid talked about how greenhouse gases from thousands of years ago are trapped in the polar ice cap and making it break up. If that is so, how can 100 years of industralization over a small portion of the planet be blamed in the next breath? It was beyond stupid. Massive climate shifts taking place in hours - howlingly funny if you ask me.
