Second expulsion for veiled schoolgirl in France
STRASBOURG, France (Reuters) - A Muslim girl who refuses to remove her headscarf was expelled Tuesday from French state schools for the second time in six months, education authorities said.
Hilal, a 12-year-old of Turkish origin, was shut out of a school in the eastern town of Thann in November for refusing to uncover her hair. Another school there took her in on condition that she wear a bandana instead of the full headscarf.
"The agreement was never clearly put into practice, despite the contacts the principal had with her and her parents," said Philippe Hemez, a local school board official.
France has passed a ban on pupils wearing religious garb in school, judging it a violation of the constitutional separation of church and state, and plans to implement it in September.
The new law leaves some flexibility for compromise solutions such as bandanas, as Muslim leaders have proposed, but the full head-and-shoulders scarf that Hilal wears would not be allowed.
Hilal's family has a week to appeal the expulsion. If it is upheld, school officials will have to find another school for her or organize a correspondence course to allow her to continue her schooling.
A handful of other children have been expelled under the law.

I was under the impression that French schoolchildren wore uniforms. Hijab is not part of the uniform.
The rest of the Eurinals will allow them to segregate themselves. If left unchecked, in 50 years the German Turks will want the autonomy of their own state in the German republic.
It is the same as the difference between the US and Canada, the difference between melting-pot and mosaic. The leftists here want mosaic because, over the long run, it will weaken the nation. The reality is that, no matter how grave the threat to America that illegal river swimmers represents today, those who stay will continue to be assimilated. The same will happen in France but not in Germany or the other dumb countries.
And why do you think we concerned about anything that happens in France?
France has nuclear weapons & it is already having quiet debate on how it will keep control of these weapons out of the hands of French muslim converts in the French armed forces.
What's the point of going to another country, another culture, if you want to make it just like the place you chose to leave?

I think we better be concerned about France. Their native birth rate is *way* below replacement. The Muslims in France take little girls like this twelve year old and marry them off at 14 and 15, at which point they begin producing large #s of babies. These babies are going to grow up to be the *majority* in that country in about 20 years. Unless you want your children going to war with EUrabia, we'd better support them in this effort.
