Sen. John Kerry's New York campaign co-chair said Sunday that he should denounce South Carolina Democratic Sen. Fritz Hollings for a column he wrote earlier this month blaming the Iraq war on Israel.
"He said a libelous thing," former New York City mayoral candidate Mark Green told WABC Radio's Steve Malzberg. "It was wrong and all good-faith Americans - Jewish or not - should denounce it."
However, asked why Kerry had yet to denounce Hollings, Green turned defensive.
"I don't know - I'm not with him today," he told Malzberg. "If he spent all his time denouncing what Steve Malzberg wants him to denounce, he probably wouldn't win."
In a column that appeared in three South Carolina newspapers earlier this month, Hollings asked:
"With Iraq no threat, why invade a sovereign country? The answer: President Bush's policy to secure Israel."
He continued:
"Led by Wolfowitz, Richard Perle and Charles Krauthammer, for years there has been a domino school of thought that the way to guarantee Israel's security is to spread democracy in the area."
On Friday Hollings was unrepentant, saying in remarks delivered on the Senate floor: "I won't apologize for this column; I want them to apologize to me. Talking about 'anti-Semitic.' They’re not getting by with it."

I don't think it was a reference to growing anti-semitims of the left, which is well taken.
Many traditionally Democratic Jews, even Liberal Ones, are Deeply troubled that Democrats and the Left in General has an Increasingly Anti-Isreal, Anti-Semitic tone.
Anti-War and other Liberal Cause rallies are filled with 'Anti-Zionists' and Arabs.
Anyway.. Even tho I am a Jew and a Conseravtive I would the initial post and it's use "JOOOOOOOOOOS" troubling.
I have scene this spelling variant before.. usually used UNflatteringly and for reason of just not wanting to say 'Jews' within some accusation to avoid be labeled for it.
It still awaits explanation by the original poster.

It's usually used by the Jewish Freepers to indicate someone who is anti-semitic.
Don't take offense, Freepers have their own lexicon that evolves out of long standing discussion and usually brings a smile to those who read it because there is instant recognition of the type of people being discussed. It's just like "I think I'll go take a shower" indicates something serious is happening, and the terms series (for serious) and something is HUGH ( for something is HUGE).
It's too late .. Kerry should hve done that A MONTH AGO!
I'll be damned if I allow the liberals and other haters to control the terms of this debate. That's something you ought to be fighting against too, quite frankly (IMHO).
