The only candidate that could defeat Pelosi in her District is Willie Brown.

Here's some info, but it doesn't include her immigration standpoint. For that, see this and this.

Well... while it would be difficult to get votes "for" DePalma, there are ways to get protest votes "against" Pelosi.

Is there a good wedge issue? Is Pelosi "strong enough" on Gay Marriage for San Fran?

Is there anything she can be accused of that would cause people to want to punish Pelosi?

(get diggin')

Whether she is sexually deprived or not I'm not sure. But, she can sure shut her surgically altered mouth as far as I'm concerned.

"The only candidate that could defeat Pelosi in her District is Willie Brown."

Nope. Brown could not get re-elected mayor or anything else in this town. He's discredited with the left here. His political career is over in SF.

"Defeating Boxer is a good priority, a do-able goal. So is defeating Daschle by supporting Thune."

How are those races going? Who is the leading Republican in the CA senate race?

Bill Jones is Boxer's likely Republican challenger.

At this point, it's hard to say what his chances are. He's not the sort of guy conservatives can get excited about, but then that only means he has a chance of being elected in California.

Thune has an excellent chance of unseating Daschle depending how much election fraud DNC lawyers are allowed to get away with this time.

I believe Jones is actually fairly conservative, and is pro-life. He's also taking Boxer to task big time over her abysmal record on national security, taxes, and the healthy forest bill, so at least he'll give her a good fight.

Ms. DePalma is not perfect, but we must do everything in our power to help bring Nancy Pelosi, the Socialist Menace, DOWN!

Nobody's perfect, but get a load of DePalma's bio:

OCCUPATION
Attorney

PARTY AFFILIATION
Republican

EDUCATION
Princeton University, AB, philosophy, cum laude
University of Chicago Law School, JD
Studied abroad in London at Queen Mary & Westfield College
Studied Korean at Yonsei University in Seoul
Interned at the U.S. Embassy in London
Interned for U.S. Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA)

MEMBERSHIPS
State Bar of California
Bar of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit
Federalist Society (member of the International and National Security Law Executive Committee)

SCHOLARSHIPS
Institute for Humane Studies Fellowship (IHS is an organization that supports free market ideas)
Kenneth S. Haberman Scholarship (awarded to a student showing "interest in the world around them")

EMPLOYMENT
South Korea - English Teacher
Cato Institute - Research Analyst in the areas of information technologies and telecommunications
U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit - Clerk for the Honorable Edith Brown Clement

By contrast, check out Pelosi's bio. It doesn't say anything about how Pelosi was given this seat (following the death of Sala Burton, widow of longtime Demo power broker Phillip Burton) with not a lick of legislative or legal experience. So how did San Fran Nan get this plush gig? It was a reward from the Burton machine for her acumen as a fundraiser for the California Democratic Party, which she served as chair from 1981-1983.

But her bio doesn't tell you that. What it does is list her "accomplishments" and "leadership" AFTER her appointment, such as the fact that she is the first female minority leader, her concern for medical research into women's health issues, chemical pollutants and AIDS. It's pretty durn thin stuff for seventeen years.

Under "Personal story," there is even less: she tells us that she is the daughter of one mayor of Baltimore, MD and the brother of another (So what? George W. Bush's dad was President and his brother is a governor), and that she graduated from Trinity College in D.C. in 1962. No details about degrees, or post-graduate work, or cum laudes. She graduated, OK??? Finally, she speaks about her hubby, Paul Pelosi, and their five kids and the number of grandkids they have. Awwww. Here's what's left unsaid: Born into a local political family, she married into another local pol family; Paul's brother Ron is a former San Francisco Supervisor and an uncle of current mayor Gavin Newsom.

Take it from someone who lives in her district: She goes pretty much unnoticed around here except to folks in the SF political elite and in her neighborhood. She doesn't do anything FOR San Francisco other than to serve as the standard-bearer of Sin Freaksicko politics and as the retriever of occasional chunks of budget pork (such as a totally unnecessary underground trolley extension from the SBC Park/CalTrain station region to Chinatown).

I can't imagine having a Congresswoman who actually has some knowledge of the law, some perspective about the role of government (as is evidenced by her work at the Cato Institute), and not just the "art" of gotcha politics. Unfortunately, imagining that idea may be the best I can do.

Yesterday's 1 x 1 between Mad Halfbright and Screamin' Mimi Pelosi at the latter's SF offices followed by Mad's Bush bashing on CNN is telling. Did you know that Mad's maiden name is Korbel and that she is of actual communist lineage? Her father worked to undermine the Czech government and create a pre-WW2 Commmunist nation and de facto Soviet satellite. With friends like these..... etc.

Guys, get real. Pelosi is in a completely safe, gerrymandered district.

Dedicate time and resources to other races so she will stay MINORITY leader.

"That said, Dan Rostenkowski was defeated once in 1994. It's not impossible."

Yeah, but Rosty's district had plenty of socially conservative Catholics and had given George H.W. Bush close to 50% in 1988 (IIRC) and gave George W. Bush like 38% in 2000. Pelosi's district gave Bush like 15% in 2000. Not gonna happen, no way, no how. There are 200 other Democrat-held districts where we would have a better chance than in Pelosi's district. We'd be better off using any Pelosi info we gather to run ads in other districts and say "if you vote for the Democrat candidate, this is who would become the next Speaker." Pelosi could become our best tool at winning congressional elections across the nation.

Actually, he already won the GOP primary. It will be Jones against Boxer in November, and I think it will be much closer than people think.

Yes, I know. I held my nose and voted for him.

It's a long way from May to November.

I wrote an e-mail to Pelosi last Sunday after her ridiculous display on Russert's program.

I told her she could get some medical help and get out of politics as she is ripping the country apart.

Shame on her.
