He Chopped Off My Hand

JEWELLER Nazaar Joudi cries as he remembers the Americans taking over Abu Ghraib prison.

But the tears in his eyes are of gratitude, not humiliation.

He knows that a handful of US soldiers have brought shame upon themselves and their nation for the way they treated Iraqi prisoners at the jail.

But he also knows how much worse the prison was under Saddam Hussein’s regime.

I am sure they will have it on page 35 e. I was just cheered by the exposure. Saddam committed horrendous crimes and at least we are helping these 7 victims here in Texas.

They did a poll and people said the media was slanted in war news toward the negative..70%

The Sun is a U.K. tabloid. IIRC, it is owned by Rupert Murdoch. Like Murdoch's New York Post, it is not yet on the excerpt list. I can post the full article, without pictures, if you wish.

Don't make me no nevermind. The pics really put the point across. Thanks for the link to the excerpt list. I'll keep that handy.

That's great news! It also explains why this "scandal" hasn't hurt the President a great deal.

If this was run in today's (U.K) Sun, I expect that Kattracks or I will be posting a similar article from the New York Post today or tomorrow. This news will get out, even if not in the Slimes.

No problem. Just hope diligence takes over in reading/responding/underderstanding.

Best to you.

ps. Google news is a very good resource to find the latest (use keywords).

Got this e-mail today.

Ponder This

This is a letter from Ray Reynolds, a medic in the
Iowa Army National Guard, serving in Iraq:

As I head off to Baghdad for the final weeks of my stay in Iraq, I wanted to say thanks to all of you who did not believe the media. They have done a very poor job of covering everything that has happened. I am sorry that I have not been able to visit all of you during my two week leave back home. And just so you can rest at night knowing something is happening in Iraq that is noteworthy, I thought I would pass this on to you. This is the list of things that has happened in Iraq recently: (Please share it with your friends and compare it to the version that your paper is producing.)

* Over 400,000 kids have up-to-date immunizations.
* School attendance is up 80% from levels before the war.
* Over 1,500 schools have been renovated and rid of the weapons
stored there so education can occur.
* The port of Uhm Qasar was renovated so grain can be off-loaded from ships faster.
* The country had its first 2 billion barrel export of oil in August.
* Over 4.5 million people have clean drinking water for the first time ever in Iraq.
* The country now receives 2 times the electrical power it did before the war.
* 100% of the hospitals are open and fully staffed, compared to 35% before the war.
* Elections are taking place in every major city, and city councils are in place.
* Sewer and water lines are installed in every major city.
* Over 60,000 police are patrolling the streets.
* Over 100,000 Iraqi civil defense police are securing the country.
* Over 80,000 Iraqi soldiers are patrolling the streets side by side with US soldiers.
* Over 400,000 people have telephones for the first time ever
* Students are taught field sanitation and hand washing techniques
to prevent the spread of germs.
* An interim constitution has been signed.
* Girls are allowed to attend school.
* Textbooks that don't mention Saddam are in the schools for the first time in 30 years.

Don't believe for one second that these people do not want us there. I have met many, many people from Iraq that want us there, and in a bad way. They say they will never see the freedoms we talk about but they hope their children will. We are doing a good job in Iraq and I challenge anyone, anywhere to dispute me on these facts. So If you happen to run into John Kerry, be sure to give him my email address and send him to Denison, Iowa. This soldier will set him straight. If you are like me and very disgusted with how this period of rebuilding has been portrayed, email this to a friend and let them know there are good things happening.

Ray Reynolds, SFC
Iowa Army National Guard

WHOA! That is outstanding! Does my heart proud. Thanks for sharing this.

On the other hand, it makes me sick in my stomach that our News media can't report any of this good news because they have to play politics with the war. We're all in this together. I hope they get their heads out of their a$$es someday, but I ain't holdin' my breath.

Fox excluded. No, they're not perfect, they get bogged down in some real bogus stuff sometimes, but they DO broadcast good news from the front. The mainstream news that I do happen to catch I see nothing at all positive.

God Bless Our Troops!

Holy cow, CBS is playing a show like that? How did that one sneak by them? I have to check that show out, thanks. Hey and if you want to know how bad NY is (I live there) in terms of the death penalty, consider the story of Ramzi Yousef, the leader of the first WTC attack and the plot to blow up those 11 Airliners over the pacific (which is just the tip of the iceberg with that guy). He was convicted of both the WTC attack and the plot in NY and now lives in the most expensive prison cell in the country that some have described as nothing more than a huge studio apt. He bragged to an agent when captured that if he had enough money and explosives he could of brought down the WTC, and on Sept 11 he got to watch his dream come true on his own private television set. No torture for info for that guy, he gets liberal appeasement because we don`t want to get his buddies angry! Gee that worked well. By the way, he also came into the US with an Iraqi passport (as well as three of his cohorts) and did that first WTC attack on the anniversary of the liberation of Kuwait.

Let's see...which shall I choose...

That's the key, what YOU would choose. You really can't say that someone from another culture would prefer humiliation over death.

You really can't say that someone from another culture would prefer humiliation over death.

In this case, it is humiliation vs. mutilation (which will ultimately lead to humiliation from freinds, family, etc.) At least if your subjected only to humiliation, you get to keep your body parts.

Jennifer, why don't you put your pic on FReeper homepage? Like maybe this one...

Hard to believe you are a FReeper, though.
