US threatens UN with withdrawal of all troops

Translation:

In the UN security council the arguments are becoming very heated. The US is again threatening to pull all of it's troops from all peacekeeping operatins if US citizens don't receive immunity from International court prosecution. This was verified by several western European diplomats. The argument over this action by the US is beginning to become very heated. Germany, France , Spain and several other nations are planning to veto any attempts by the US government regarding this resolution, where US citizens would be immune to International prosecution.

We sure would be better off not sending our troops into harms way under the UN umbrella? We would then see what this peace Organisation will be capable of?

Good for us. I would withdraw from the UN period after the oil for food scandal. And after we dump the new sovereign Iraq's peace force duties off on them.

Forget threatening to withdraw. Why give the enemy advance notice?

Does this mean peacekeeping efforts altogether or just for the UN effort? Time for UN hardball, it appears.

Hmm, sounds like the first step towards the U.S. withdrawing from the U.N.

Dare we hope?

They have us over a barrel.

Bush is begging the UN to take over the Iraki fiasco.

Chalabi's downfall may be the result of us kowtowing to the Germans, French and Russians to deepsix the OilforFood scandal.

We'll probably compromise if we want the UN to take this tar baby off our hands.

Since this is being proposed at the UN, I would imagine, only UN sponsored Peacekeeping efforts?

In light of this, doesn't the thought of Kerry winning get really frightening?

You can see why the press is concentrating on Abu whatever, and totally ignoring the Oil for Food. If they don't, the UN will never dominate us.

And true leftists really think we should lose our sovreignty to the UN.

This is the same UN that as soon is real bullets were being fired in Iraq just cut and ran. We don't need this kind of friend.

They have us over no barrel:

1) Iraq is not a "fiasco" and he certianly does not want the UN to "take it off or hands." Stop buying into the media fabrications.

2) If we have the goods on the Oil for Food scandal how are we not in control. You contradict youself here.

3) We have not "kow tow" to anyone.

4) Chalabi is most likely a spy but at any rate do you not think that we should wait until the facts are in?

You are taking mainstream media a little too seriously. Bug up.

If we yank their funding, they WILL collapse.

If I hear anything I will sound off.

Geez...Swarthyguy...you usually are insightful in your posts....

First, Iraq is hardly a fiasco....things are progressing fairly well....No doubt there are bumps in the road but that was expected....Especially when you have Syria, Iran and Saudi money, fighters and logistics being pumped into Iraq to destabilize our efforts...

Second, Bush has repeatedly from day one asked for UN support. Bush clearly stated that we were going in with or without the UN but clearly wanted the UN with us....

Third, Chalabi was a "double agent" and charlatan who was in it for the money. By trying to prolong the conflict, feeding select info and serving two masters (Iran & US) he could preserve his money stream.

Chalabi's possession of some "Oil for Food" scandal documents was a game for the highest bidder. Chalabi most certainly had duplicates of all documents he has in his possession. The raid would only have uncovered one set which would give us visibility and documentation but not removed the implied threat to Germany and France.

With each passing day, our involvement in the UN becomes more and more absurd.

Without us, its a glorified debating society that signifies nothing.

Pull the troops, but remain in the UN. We must keep our veto power in this organization.

And cut the funding til it matches by percentage the average of ALL nations on the planet.

Suggesting the UN be moved from the United States would also get my support, btw. And probably every beat Cop in NYC.
