Tell Congress: Censure (Reprimand) Democrat Nancy Pelosi for Her Disgraceful Ad Hominem Attack
Many FReepers have been contacting me about various action items I have posted, saying that they were having difficulty getting the contact info for their Congressmen, Senators, etc. Thus, I have gone ahead and purchased a "SoapBox Alert" on Congress.Org to enable FReepers to use the protest tactics of this left-wing site against the left wingers -- it directly enables you to contact your representatives and Senators (and makes it very easy). I hope you make use of it.
This is the Action Item: Tell Congress: Censure (Reprimand) Democrat Nancy Pelosi for Her Disgraceful Ad Hominem Attack
Clicking here will take you to the item as well. Here is the text of the item:
On 5/21, Minority Leader Pelosi said this:
"I believe that the president's leadership and the actions taken in Iraq demonstrate an incompetence in terms of knowledge, judgment, and experience," Pelosi told reporters gathered to hear her remarks.
"This president should have known ... when you decide to go to war you have to know what the consequences of your action are and how you can accomplish the mission," Pelosi said.
The House Democratic leader added, "There was plenty of intelligence to say there would be chaos in Iraq following the fall of Baghdad."
"Bush is an incompetent leader. In fact, he's not a leader. He's a person who has no judgment, no experience and no knowledge of the subjects that he has to decide upon."
"Not to get personal about it, but the president's capacity to lead has never been there," Pelosi said.
"In order to lead, you have to have judgment. In order to have judgment, you have to have knowledge and experience. He has none," she added.
This is an outrage. Ms. Pelosi's comments are not a criticism of policy, but they are a direct, ad hominem (personal) attack on the President for mere political gain in a time of war -- and reckless ones at that, for they give our enemies aid and comfort.
The Republicans were quick (for once) to respond:
Bush-Cheney '04 Campaign Chairman Marc Racicot addressed John Kerry, saying, "As leader of the Democratic Party, John Kerry needs to repudiate Nancy Pelosi's efforts to blame American deaths in Iraq on the President. No one is to blame for these deaths in Iraq but the terrorists who are trying to prevent freedom from coming to the Middle East."
Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie said, "To angry Democrats like Nancy Pelosi and Ted Kennedy, terrorists and militia aren't responsible for the deaths of U.S. soldiers, their commander-in-chief is. And our servicemen and women, in putting torture chambers 'under U.S. management,' are no different than a regime that systematically tortured, raped and killed its own people."
"The San Francisco/Boston Democrats led by John Kerry have now adopted Blame America First as their official policy," Gillespie continued in a statement issued to the press.
Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert (R-IL) said, "Mrs. Pelosi has the right to disagree with President Bush, and it is clear that she has a different vision from the President. But her comments questioning the President's competence cross the line."
"We are in the middle of a war and in the middle of a political campaign. Mrs. Pelosi's comments were meant to inspire her political base. But who else do they inspire? That is the question she should ask herself," Hastert continued.
"Her comments are also wrong," Hastert said.
Further, Hastert said, "Was it incompetence that put Saddam Hussein in jail? Was it incompetence that disbanded the Taliban? Was it incompetence that spurred the fastest economic growth rate in twenty years? Was it incompetence that created the highest home ownership rate in history?"
"Nancy Pelosi should apologize for her irresponsible, dangerous rhetoric," House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX) told CNN. "She apparently is so caught up in partisan hatred for President Bush that her words are putting American lives at risk."
For these reasons, I urge you to contact your Representatives and Senators today and DEMAND that they issue a formal Censure (reprimand) of Representative Pelosi.
Take action here.
As a loyal American and a social studies educator, I am outraged at the unconscionable and acerbic remarks made by Ms. Pelosi against our Commander-in-Chief during time of war. Ms. Pelosi is free to hold different views, but her recent remarks cross the line from partisian rhetoric into activites akin to offering aid and comfort to America's enemies. I call upon the US Congress to censure both Ms. Pelosi and Senator Edward Kennedy for their reprehensible remarks, and I urge the democratic party to repudiate their actions.
She is just another shrilly partisan. I am sick of them.

This is a good start, but we can still do better. If you, your friends, and your families haven't all taken action yet, please be sure to do so.
Go get 'em!!!
Bump and faxed.

Oh, I'll vote for President Bush. However, the Electoral College renders my vote useless living in the Socialist Republic of Maryland (Montgomery County).
The rhetoric unleahed by the Left with the mainstream media as co-conspirators should hve been instantly attacked months ago.
The horses have left the barn already. Burn the damned thing down...I could care less.
The Republicans are nothing but a bunch of sissies and don't have the stomach or the brains to squelch this ever-growing treasonous attitude of the Democratic Party.
They are professional politicians and should have people with the proper IQs and plans to mount a counter-offensive.
Instead, I feel like some sort of fringe extremist wacko for wanting to see a war fought without regard to the nightly news and the goddamned NYT and Washington Post.
Where in the hell is a General Patton now that we need him? "We're not going to ask you to die for your country. We want the enemy bastards to die for their country.".....or something to that effect."
---AMEN, BROTHER. The longer GWB is in office, the more feeble he seems to get. Politically paralyzed...and intellectually dishonest with us, his base...probably the most acutely informed generation of conservative activists in modern history... He is exhibiting zero comprehension that the attacks are not just happenstance, but the coordinated (if only oligopolistically) by communist propagandists who have manuevered themselves into control of all major media. This is precisely what Whittaker Chambers foresaw eventuating. Those cancerous cells of years gone by have long ago matastisized into huge tumors on college campuses and newsrooms...and of course the RAT party.
None dare call it treason.
Someone I know sent this one:
PROVEN CARD CARRYING SOCIALIST [i.e. Kommie N Drag] Rep N Pelosi needs fiercely and strongly censured for her hideous comments regarding the Iraq war and courageous President Bush.
I hope you will demonstrate patriotism and sanity by pushing such an action at the earliest opportunity.
Many many thanks jmstein7!! I have been gone for a day but will take care of this immediately. Freepers, working together will get the job done.!!!!!!!!
bump for Monday...I wonder what my representative's (Sue Kelly) secretary will think....I called her last week demanding a censure of drunk ted!
If I didn't have such a crush on her daughter Alexandra, I'd so totally go off on her. Then again, Alexandra hasn't returned my last few e-mails(we honestly were having a nice back and forth about Baltimore Memorial Stadium and her granddad's involvement in its construction, as well as his efforts to bring the Orioles east from Saint Louis). But she knows I'm a Pubbie and I've a feeling she's no longer allowed to speak to me...
heh-heh. I doubt if it's that debatable...
I know, I know... I felt when I wrote that I was givng them wayyyy too much credit... (hanging head in shame)
