New front in Iraq detainee abuse scandal?
MSNBC ^ | 5/20/04 | Campbell Brown

BAGHDAD - With attention focused on the seven soldiers charged with abuse at the Abu Ghraib prison, U.S. military and intelligence officials familiar with the situation tell NBC News the Army’s elite Delta Force is now the subject of a Pentagon inspector general investigation into abuse against detainees.

The target is a top-secret site near Baghdad’s airport. The battlefield interrogation facility known as the “BIF” is pictured in satellite photos.

According to two top U.S. government sources, it is the scene of the most egregious violations of the Geneva Conventions in all of Iraq’s prisons. A place where the normal rules of interrogation don’t apply, Delta Force’s BIF only holds Iraqi insurgents and suspected terrorists — but not the most wanted among Saddam’s lieutenants pictured on the deck of cards.

Pelosi and Daschle, perhaps. Or maybe Kennedy and Specter. Or...the list of suspects is quite large.

They don't call it their 'silver bullet' for nothing.

They will dig dirt on the and anything related as long as they can.

Remember, they vetted GWB's National Guard service in 2000, and they've done it twice in 2004, each time getting a good week or more of negative PR.

As long as they can keep any negative PR going on the Iraqi prison abuse scandal, tney will. And why not, the other side is staying quiet and letting them.

So, does Rumfeld know about the BIF and what goes on there?

Several top U.S. military and intelligence sources say yes, and that he, through other top Pentagon officials, directed the U.S. head of intelligence in Iraq, Gen. Barbara Fast, and others to bring some of the methods used at the BIF to prisons like Abu Ghraib, in hopes of getting better intelligence from Iraqi detainees.

I gotta believe that we've got interrogation techniques more sophisticated than something that looks like it was lifted from a porno movie.

Hell, not 'JUST' campbell brown.......it's ALL of nbc. And abc and cbs...you name it. The only time they are patriots is when a dim is in office. And even then, they aren't behind the military, just the Prez. I'm so sick of the media, the dnc and all the dims, except zell.

I am sick of them badmouthing our President. I am sick of them badmouthing our troops. I am sick of them badmouthing our mission in Iraq and the WOT. I am sick of EVERYTHING BEING BUSH'S FAULT. I am sick of their negativity. I am sick of their swooning over that idiot skerry. They have got half of the idiots in this country thinking that this pompous elitist, this fake war hero would be a good president.

I have just about quit watching all news, including Fox. I catch Brit occasionally. Why watch it? FR has all the news here BEFORE they do, without any liberal ass comentary afterwards. Thanks to all you freepers for keeping my sanity in this election year. Sorry for the rant.

I hate the media I hate their treason and sedition.

I hope that one day they will be held accountable for their greed. It's not the 1st amendment its the bottom line and nothing else.

They sell our soldiers down the road for a few rating points or pieces of silver.

The press seems to ignore the fact that the Geneva Conventions are not applicable here.

According to two top U.S. government sources, it is the scene of the most egregious violations of the Geneva Conventions in all of Iraq’s prisons.

Beyond the abuse found at Abu Ghraib, has there been evidence found at even one other prison, let alone "in all of Iraq"? The answer is no.

I saw Campbell on Hardball yesterday, sent over for the court martials.

Once again this is an example of the media trying to correlate certain treatment of prisoners with what went on at Abu Ghraib. If there's anything egregious (besides the actual garbage that went on at Abu Ghraib), it is this constant and relentless attempt to tie the administration directly to Abu Ghraib.

I note her report includes:

In Washington Thursday evening, a senior Pentagon official denied allegations of prisoner abuse at Battlefield Interrogation Facilities operated by Delta Force in Iraq. And he said the tactics described in this report are not used in those facilities.

This sounds like another disgraceful and deceitful example of journalism gone wild.

Trying to demoralize the troops more; this is crazy.

Bush needs to stop letting events control him and instead start acting like an Cheif Executive.
