Latinos to shed minority status
Los Angeles Daily News ^ | May20, 2004 | Beth Barrett

Latinos will be a majority of Los Angeles County residents by 2014 and of Californians by 2040, according to state population projections released Wednesday.

The Department of Finance also predicted a much slower rate of population growth in Los Angeles County and the state over the next few years.

Los Angeles County is expected to have half of its residents -- or about 5.3 million of the estimated 10.6 million people -- come from Hispanic backgrounds within the next 10 years.

Hispanics will be the majority of Californians by 2040 -- 25.9 million out of 51.5 million residents.

"This adds up to a tremendous challenge in terms of the need to empower Latinos to be able to help California's economy," said state Sen. Richard Alarcon, D-Van Nuys. "We need to move them into the middle class through education and good jobs. To the extent they are successful, California and the county of Los Angeles will be successful."

Or, does this mean if you are not Latino, go move somewhere else?

I read an article earlier last week that Latinos make up 90+% of LAUSD. How come they are not a majority already?

And what they don't mention is that if we'd bother to protect our borders their numbers would be 1/4 of what they are.

Even the Mayor Hahn has declared Los Angeles, a "Mexican City".

If I were Mexican, I would be insulted by that comment, because the city is broke. The State of California schools rank 49 out of 50 states, and yet 50% of the state budget is used for schools.

California is a lost cause thanks to our non-enforcement of the border.

It is only lost because we are not doing anything about it. We need to DEPORT people who do not belong here. The police need to work with the DHS, and start with the first illegal alien, and finish with the last.

Give up the defeatist attitude.

So the mexicans will displace the nader-kerry liberals? Hmm -- its a toss up.

Will Whites start getting affirmative action, quotas, race-based scholarships, an EEOC rep, etc.?

With "reconquista" so successful, Whites, blacks, asians should plan on leaving the southwest. Mexico is going to aquire this land, only because our Federal Government doesn't care about it.

The politicians don't care as long as their own political agendas are being served.

50% of the state budget is used for schools.

That is truly amazing. Yet another statistic to prove that more money does not equal better education.
