Spanish Troops Come Under Attack In Iraq

(Madrid) -- At least one Spanish soldier has been hurt in an attack on a Spanish convoy as it was in the process of pulling out of war-ravaged Iraq. Spain's Defense Ministry Office reports that the convoy was ambushed by Iraqi insurgents on its way to Kuwait.

One insurgent was killed and another injured in the incident. The Spanish soldiers were among the last still in Iraq, with the withdrawal of all the country's troops expected to be finished within the next week.

At least we know the Spanish troops aren't as yellow bellied as their cowardly socialist government.

I guess the insurgents couldn't see the white flags.

Yeah well, just wait until they pull something here because they think they can get us to fold and elect Kerry just like they got Zapatero elected in Spain.

If AQ is still capable of *any* form of attack in the US we will see it in the next few months.

Attacked while under orders to retreat. Yes, the soldiers fought back. They were forced to see the insanity of not fighting. I bet the libs are scratching their heads. "Are these Islamic terrorists insane?" Now it's our turn to retreat. Otherwise, cocktail conservatives, who probably belong in the Reform Party, will call us 'neo-cons' and 'chicken hawks'.

And what is the reason for that specific date?

I agree, but I think they pretty much shot what they had or we would have seen something else by now.

I've been thinking:

We are called 'neo-cons' and 'chicken hawks'. What about the antiwar crowd? Doves doesn't quite describe them. They are war-buzzards, drooling at the thought of any chance to demoralize the war effort. I'd much rather be called a neo-con than a war-buzzard, the carrion bird that dines upon the flesh of the fallen, attracted to the smell of death.

Ostrich certainly does. Heads in the sand, posteriors in the air.

Well, I mostly agree. Why is it that there were 4 major terror attacks pre-9/11 and none after? I think because of Bush's forthright actions against them.

But...I wouldn't be surprised if they could manage *something* if they take no heed of the costs and risks. I also greatly worry that AQ may have realized just how much help the anti-war movement could be for them in terms of camoflague.

Imagine an anti-war rally on Oct 7, say, to commerate the invasion of Afghanistan. Wouldn't it be easy to hide terror chatter within that of the greater anti-war movement? And terrorists would have virtually free reign within such a rally...

Since my mouth is not profane, let's just call them "vaginas". Menstruating vaginas.

Apparently the Islamic terrorists appear to be kicking Spain's ass on the way out. Submission to terrorists' demands buys you nothing, not even their future good will. Its clear its a concept Spain's new Socialist government doesn't appear to grasp.

Kind of ironic isn't it? The Islamist's got their wish for Spanish troops to leave Iraq - but then they are not even allowed to withdraw - and are attacked on their way out.

Makes about as much sense as these fools do when they interfere with our efforts in that country. Logic would say that if they would just shut up and pretend to co-operate and let us "finish" our mission, we would be out of Iraq far sooner. But no - they slow the whole process down - thus actually lengthening our stay in Iraq. If they would just shut up, the country would be there's to do with as they saw fit when we leave.

Stupid Islamists.....

The Spain train attack, Nick Berg getting his head cutoff and other attacks have all occurred on the 11th of the month when perpetrated by al-Qaeda. So far it has been their calling card. The US presidential elections are on November 2nd. The nearest to the election they can attack and stay true to the 11th is October 11th.

I would also speculate that Florida would be their target. They know Florida is a close call in the election based on the last time around. They also know if Bush loses Florida that he probably loses the election.

They likely think Florida is Bushes weak link and attack their just prior to the election will get the desired result as exampled by the Spanish.

Make that:

Also Florida has a Bush for governor...
