A childless German couple finally found out why they weren't able to conceive — they had never had sex.
Doctors at the Lübeck campus of the University Clinic of Schleswig-Holstein (search) in northern Germany described the case in a medical bulletin, according to Ananova.com.
After eight years of marriage, the 36-year-old man and his 30-year-old wife went to the campus' fertility clinic to figure out what was wrong.
Doctors gave them a battery of tests and were baffled — both husband and wife were healthily fertile.
Then came the important question.
"When we asked them how often they had had sex," said a clinic spokesman, "they looked blank, and said: 'What do you mean?'"
He went on to explain that each of the pair had been brought up extremely religiously and had never heard of the birds and the bees.

I'm touched. I guess they believed babies came into the world solely through supernatural intervention. No wonder they kept waiting for the stork's arrival. :)
Me too. After all, sex is on news, TV, radio. Someone would have to live on a desert island not to know something about it and how were they educated. Something is odd here.

Just an update on a funny tale in Catch-22 in which the doctor had to explain, with the use of props, the nature of reproduction to a married couple. After he was finished, the husband punched him in the nose.

I guess being German and all, they thought that they could simply issue an order for the baby to come out.

Errrr... you'd think if nature was gonna take it's course, they wouldn't *need* a porn flick. How messed up does a couple ahve to be to not be able to figure out that there's something special about Slot A and Tab B?
