In Germany and France it is quite common. That's where a lot of our retired horses go. I haven't heard of horses being used for food in the US, but personally I don't see it as any less appealing than other large meaty animals.

Dogs, on the other hand...

I hate the slippery use of "slaughter" here, which when applied to animales means essentially the same as "butcher," that is, to cut up for food. Lobbying against slaughter -- What, do they expect us to cook horses whole?

I've never eaten horse flesh, but I would give it a try if the opportunity presented.

Quite a bit of horse meat is consumed in Japan where they enjoy it raw.

Eating raw food in this day and age is not the smartest approach. Ever consider the number of parasites that live there and will live in your intestines if you eat it? Sobering thought for the sushi crowd.

Bo is a little off the deep end, here. But I guess everyone is allowed their eccentricities.

I can't see how this is a Conservative stance on this issue.
Horses are no different than any other animal if you're hungry.
We don't eat them because we have other animals which our culture accepts.

I heard on a recent TV show that Ms. Derek is very conservative, which bumps her up to an "11."

Horse meat isn’t bad - it’s lean and actually has more flavor than beef.
