May 19, 2004 -- The 9/11 commission hearing yesterday in Manhattan turned into a series of angry finger-pointing exchanges

Hence, they are worth nothing.;) (I love your sense of humor.)
<< And you cannot spell!
I think the problem was a missing word or two, so that would qualify it as a grammar problem. :) >>
I KNOW the problem.
His dog is arse-backwards!
Otherwise he's a doll.
And has his own head on Right!
That was a world record typing speed for me.
Seriously though, from the beginning, the whole DNC coordinated media blitz/9-11 commission has been nothing but a complete farce.
I was already past the point of revulsion and disgust that I felt at their using 9-11, and the bodies of 3,000 dead of our fellow Americans, to launch baseless partisan attacks against Bush and co., and to cover their own implicity as to who was really more to blame for 9-11, if we wanted to start pointing fingers.
Personally, I hold the nineteen hijackers and those that supported them here responsible.
They got over on us because they had never before hijacked commercial aircraft with the intent of flying into a building like a cruise missle.
That's why it happened. There's really no blame to placed anywhere in the government for that. They just got over on us.
But no, the dnc, getting it's a$$ handed to then by Bush and the entire GOP, declared 9-11 in play and launched their coordinated effort of outright lies and distortion.
The very dems placed on the 9-11 commission, as they sat there berating Condi, Rummy, and co., actually had the gall to sneer.
I assumed the dems would actually display some respect to the dead, the families of those who perished, and all of us Americans by at least making the 9-11 commission appear to be making a legitimate effort to bring some good out of 9-11.
What the dems did was a disgrace, and I'll never forget that they consider their party more important than our nation.
When I read today how they attacked NY emergency services, I lost it.
It's personal now.
You see, in my business, I've met fireman from all over the country who work trade shows for extra cash. Including several NY firemen.
When the planes hit the towers, I was working in my shop, all I had was a radio.
I'll never forget this... before the towers fell, a lady that had came out of a tower was asked what she saw.
Her reply,"There were thousands trying to get down the steps while the firemen were trying to climb them."
At that moment, the sound of boots climbing a hollow stairwell entered my head, and I thought about the incredible courage it took to climb those stairs up into the top reaches of those towers.
Then the first tower fell.
When I watched the documentary filmed by the French student, and it got to the scene where the NYFD command post is in the lobby right before the collapse, I thought about the courage it took just to stand there in the balcony.
More than anyother goverment agency on any level, on 9-11, the NYC emergency services above and beyond performed their duty, and were probably the lowest paid.
Their excellence in overcoming adverse conditions, their ability to adapt to a disaster on a scale none of them could possibly fathom, much less be trained to deal with, their sheer courage and sacrifice saved thousands of lives.
Watching NYC emergency at work during the 9-11 documentary makes me very proud to be an American. I consider myself better to have worked alongside men of this caliber.
Nothing they did in any way deserves any of our scrutiny or criticism. They deserve our thanks, honor, and rememberance.
Matter of fact, I've been thinking for awhile that the week of 9-11, our national politicians ought to forgo their government checks for a week or two and pay every emergency worker in this country a small bonus as an extra thanks, in honor of their brethren who perished on 9-11.
It ain't like the politicians actually need their government checks that much.
But no, The dnc attack dog 9/11 commission smelled Guilliani's republican blood, and John Lehman saw fit to attack the NYC emergency on trivial matters.
"The 9-11 system failed and people couldn't get through."
Well no duh dumba$$. So did phone service, land and cell, all over the country. Even at my job in Georgia.
It wouldn't have mattered if NYC's 9-11 system answered every call made to it, the firestations were empty.
"There was chaos amongst the command structure"
Yes, there was. THERE WAS A DISASTER OF SCALE NEVER BEFORE SEEN OR PREPARED FOR!! And yet, NYC emergency still saved many lives.
The city's performance was not worthy of boy scouts!
I'm really surprised the uncle, father, or brother of an NYFD that perished on 9-11 didn't get violent.
I'm grateful that I wasn't there, because I would've snapped, all the good it would've gotten me.
I'm serious. What John Lehman said goes way beyond the pale.
He didn't think the committee itself was bad enough with it's petty accusations and indignant questions of men who owe him and his committee nothing.
He had to be dramatic, and throw in an insult.
John Lehman doesn't care if he falsely impugnes the honor of men, alive and dead in his pursuit to make his dnc handlers happy.
As disgusted as I have been with the whole commission and the dnc, IMO..John Lehman, and the attack on NYC emergency, have been the absolute most disgusting.
But like 9-11, we ordinary Americans can draw a valuable lesson from this disgusting display.
Any remaining shreds of doubt that the dnc is nothing but a criminal enterprise intent on gaining power at all cost. It cares about nothing else, not us nor our nation.
I just heard about this whole escapade today. Would someone give me a readers digest version of what in the world is going on here. What commission is this? Why were they formed? Why are these people all of a sudden screaming at Juliani about the deaths of officers and firefighters that 1) happened 2.5 years ago; and 2) were caused by building collapse that Juliani and other NY city workers didn't cause?
Your entire post should be required reading and is worth repeating and I think the sentence cited above says a lot. Thanks for taking the time and patience to post it.
They applauded? I am so sick of these CREEPS blaming EVERYBODY but the terrorists for what happened on 9/11.
That includes these despicable "relatives of 9/11 victims" who are nothing but embittered ingrates who actually want to blame the people who tried to save their relatives, for not doing enough.
What were THEY doing while the NYPD and NYFD risked their lives and SACRIFICED their lives trying to save their relatives?
This is just one more disgusting example of what the Bible says are those who justify the wicked and condemn the just.
He just blew any possibility of that with his snide little comment. New Yorkers would vote against him just on the basis of that.
It's real easy to sit on the sidelines and complain after the fact. If they want to fix things, that's fine, but their accusatory tone was insulting to those men who died, and the great leaders who led them through the greatest rescue in history.
And shame on those people who heckled Mayor Rudy Guiliani today.
Those first responders in NYPD and FDNY who gave their lives on 9-11 helped to evacuate & save about 25,000 people......they deserve our gratitude & admiration.
Well, Mr. Kerrey, may I remind you that your co-panelist Ms. Gorelick, in erecting the wall that prevented intel from being shared by the FBI and CIA and local agencies, allowed the walls of the WTC towers to come down. The political correctness that took root during BJ Clinton's cowardly, craven administration prohibited the "profiling" that would have permitted the INS perhaps to do something about the visas other than give a stamp of approval for entry. There's a lot of truth in that old adage about when you point your finger at someone three of your fingers are pointing back at you.
I know there is no way my friend could have been rescued from the 110th floor by the brave firefighters and policemen, but he did not die in vain. President Bush will continue to lead us to victory in the War on Terrorism, and I am going to help him win the war against contemptible people like you. "Defeat" is a powerful word that you use as some kind of leftist mantra but Mr. Kerrey, you won't know the significance of its meaning until this November, when it's in bold print headlines as "Democrats Suffer Crushing Defeat".
While I fully support the mayor and all of the other New Yorkers who did their job on 9-11...I also see a world-class city that was prepared for medium sized emergency only. Based on every bit of evidence to date...not just this meeting...they were capable of handling a fire in of the buildings downtown...a simple fire...nothing special. And thats about all that the city was really fixed up to handle. But in their minds, this was the worst emergency they could dream up in the 1980s and they prepared themselves for just that situation.
The other problem here...is the communications situation. You see the same problem with the US military in the 1980s, and this all came up during Desert Storm, with various military groups operating different types of radios and no common ground. The US military learned from that experience, and has become more joint over the last 10 years. The city has also learned from the experience and is somewhat prepared today to handle another 9-11.
Ewe! < shuddering on several levels >
When you think about it, it's no worse than blameing Condi fpr not knowing New York was going to be attacked. At least the pinheads in the audience responded the same way.
And you can thank President Bush for that, too. Homeland Security and The Patriot Act.
How'd the NYPD do on New Year's Eve at Times Square? Good enough that thousands of people felt safe enough to celebrate. The people who make fun of the Terror Alert Levels are probably among those who say not enough is being done to protect us. The Alert system is actually effective; it was designed to put local agencies into action behind the scenes so the rest of us can go about our lives and know that we are at least safer than we were before 9/11/01.
Forget it. I didn't realize this was the same commission that made fools of themselves last month.
This man was in the documentary 9/11 and lost a brother at the WTC... the entire 9/11 commission isn't fit to even speak to him.
