EXECUTION: FOUR HELD |
The 26-year-old businessman's decapitated body was found 10 days ago in Baghdad.
His killing was shown around the world on the internet.
The poor quality website video showed Berg dressed in orange overalls kneeling on the floor with his hands tied back.
There were five masked men behind him. One read a statement urging Muslims to take revenge over the abuse of Iraqi prisoners by American soldiers.
The masked men then pushed the American contractor to the floor and shouted "God is greatest" above his screams.
His head was cut off with a knife and then held aloft.
The website said the execution was performed by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, a top ally of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
It is not known if he was among the four people arrested.
Nicholas Berg's headless body was found May 9 in western Baghdad. Three days later, a videotape posted on an al-Qaeda-related website showed him being decapitated by hooded men.
Berg's captors said the killing was to avenge abuses of Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison by US forces.
You want Zarqawi? Sub out the interrogation to the Jordanians. Or, simply give the bastards twenty minutes to tell everything they know with the threat the next interrogator will be Jordanian. I like the way the would-be terrorists that were stopped in the midst of their planned embassy attacks were so eager to spill their guts -- on TV, no less.
Sorry, but posting idiotic tinfoil hat conspiracy stuff from America hating propaganda sites like whatreallyhappened.com, rense.com, etc, and trying to pass it off as something credible is definitely not welcome on FR. And if he really believes this garbage, well, all I can say is, good luck.
Sure, wacky is fine--and god knows some theories that seemed "wacky" later turn out to be accurate. But all I'm saying is that if someone has a theory they need to be able to support it with better than rense.com and whatreallyhappened.com.
Hi Jim! Long time , no see. Maybe BobJ will have another pool party soon!
I agree that those sites are retarded & they are also easily refuted. Choppersrule is the husband of one of my best friends. He is a republican who voted for Bush & supports the 2nd amendment in a big way. I have no idea if he believes those sites, but we freepers can easily re-educate him. I know it is your site & you can do what you like.....but some of the most influential threads on FR involve the back & forth debates on topics like this....I really enjoy reading threads where one freeper schools another on a topic.
Aww...c'mon Jim. He was entertaining.
"When I saw that guy with the panties on his head, I laughed so hard."
I just hope those panties weren't soiled. That would be another atrocity charged against us - or maybe not...
eeeewwwwww
stinky britches
I haven't read the whole thread but I did catch something on FoxNews that they were backing away from this story. The military had evidently captured four people but they had nothing to do with the execution.
I will be sending you a freepmail in a while.
"Arrested"???
They're still wasting O2???
The quick way to check the veracity of an alleged journalistic quote is to feed it into google.
Then you can see on how many crackpot blogsites are repeating the same unsourced statement and whether it is on any actual newsites.
It isn't legitmately sourced anywhere, of course.
Why not send as many liberals and bleeding hearts to Iraq so they can try to find the extremists and talk to them? See if the extremists treat them nicely or not.
It was an execution-style murder. Executions do not only need trials or juries according to our western definitions. Nick was executed according to this Islamic group's "law."
You mean they lied to us about Elvis too? Im so confused!
Thats hilarious!
ROFL @ Elvis Akbar!
These 4 need to have an accident after they sing.
Strange - I've not seen anything about this - except here (Sky News). Is there any other source that has confirmed these reports?
Apart from AFP who reported the story in the first place, I have not seen anything more.
"Apart from AFP who reported the story in the first place, I have not seen anything more."
Didn't think so. Another blind chase with nothing to support it. Sky News is totally worthles - they do write some interesting fiction though.
To be fair, Sky is only relaying an AFP wire report.
Which incidently, AFP still ran with under three hours ago:
Officials mourn Iraqi leader's death, four arrested over beheading

Great idea! Shall we start by sending Jessie Jackson to see if he can negotiate with them?
