So, Seriously... Does Anyone Know Any GOOD News?

[I'll be brief and to the point; do me a favor, and either read before posting, or don't post at all, willya?]
I'll admit, Mondays in general seem to hit me harder than they used to. But it seems to me as if the drum beat of the news has been going from bad to worse, with precious little to break it on the national scale. I figure I'm not the only one here who feels that way.
My purpose in this essay is to lay out what is making me feel so gloomy, and to invite anyone and everyone to share either neglected items, anticipated turns of events, or different perspectives to make it all look less gloomy if possible.
So here's what has me glum, in no particular order:
- A few wretched morons in uniform embarrass and mistreat a few enemy solders. This is big news, 24/7, and still is, and somehow is spun to mean that W has got to go.
- An (evidently) pro-Bush American citizen, helping to rebuild Iraq, is brutally murdered by sub-human cowards. This is not big news, and does nothing to steel our resolve in the war effort, nor our national support for the Commander in Chief.
- The martyred citizen's father, wracked with grief and evidently politically screwed-up from the start, unintentionally shames his son's memory by virtually ignoring his son's convictions and efforts, and blaming Bush for his death, and saying that the terrorists are "maybe" as bad as we are. His blaming of Bush (not the event) is big news.
- The senior baloon from Massachusetts (Laura Ingraham's phrase) treacherously and wickedly equates George Bush to Saddam Hussein, our troops to his, and embarrassment of enemy fighters to the murder of a civilian. This too is not big news, the Senate does nothing about it, he suffers no political consequences.
- John Kerry continues to be an idiot with no credibility and fewer clues; George Bush continues to be a principled leader with both and poll after poll shows the former beating the latter handily.
- Flying in the face of all rationality and etymology to say nothing of ethics, history, values, and the Constitution the laws created ex nihilo by the rogue justices in Massachussetts are about to prevail, and sadly perverted individuals are about to be pronounced something they can never be married. I feel as if I have fallen asleep in America, and awoken in Bedlam. This has me feeling particularly powerless; nobody who sees things as I do seems to be in any position of power or influence and I certainly am not!
- In all the time since this event was anticipated, nothing of all the rather obviously-doable things has in fact been done to prevent it, so it must necessarily have an impact on all 49 other states. Unscrambling that egg will be exceedingly difficult. I have no clue how it can be done. If possession is 9/10ths of the law, these sad degenerates will possess a legal, state-sanctioned marriage license. Full faith and credit... oy!
- The media are more corrupt, mor propagandistic, more destructive than I can ever remember they're being; and they are more than ever before proving to be the arm of the DNC. They are not being countered on any large scale, and many people do not access alternative sources.
- The Bush campaign, and all of its should-be public supporters, seem tepid, directionless, disengaged, apologetic.
- I'm still ticked at the MacSpectre/Toomey thing; neither result of that election now is a hopeful thing to me.
I'll have to stop now, because I'm out of time. I could do more. You could do more. The only positive things I can think about besides the truth that God still rules over all (2 Chronicles 29:11-14; Psalm 115:3), and that Jesus will return to rule the world one day, to judge wickedness and to make Earth a home for righteousness (Psalm 2; 2 Peter 3:3-13) is this:
Thank God this is all happening in May, not October.
So, what else am I missing? Tell us, share brighten our days. Some of the sharpest folks I've enjoyed "knowing" are here.
What say you?

Schools out in a few days, and for all of us in metro areas, that's very good news. We won't have to sit in congested traffic for another 3 months.

Don't worry, friend.
Iraq is going to get better as the months go by. The economy is already getting better. In 6 months, we will be celebrating victory.
It has been a long, long time since this nation has elected a New England liberal as President, and it certainly won't happen during a war.

Well, actually there is good news.
I see more and more high school and college age students becoming conservative in their personal and political views.
They are starting to speak out against the liberal brainwashing that has been going on in our public schools.
Also, my son showed up this a.m. for a four day visit (to a Mom the sound of those big feet on the front deck was a very musical sound at 4:00 a.m.)

You're not missing anything. The slippery slope is getting steeper and there're no handholds to keep us from sliding on down. It's only after we hit bottom that we can stand up again and take stock of the pit we've slipped into. Welcome to the future.

To be honest, I feel the same way. I hope for the return of the Lord Jesus, this world is wracked with sin, sickness and death. If you have ever read "The Great Divorce" by CS Lewis draw strength from it, I feel there is a lot of truth there, that is, this world is a misty, vague, transparent state of being, the spiritual world is the actual concrete world. This is not how things are supposed to be, everything will be fixed, create new again, hang in there. Satan is hardening our hearts for a time when the love of most will grow cold.
