Heavenly Father, we return to give You thanks that You are Sovereign. There is nothing that man can do or say or think that You do not know. Kingdoms rise and fall according to Your will ... authorities are placed over man according to Your will. We are most blessed that You have determined the authority of George W. Bush as our President during these dangerous times. He has revealed his heart to us ... that he seeks Your counsel; that he loves our beloved country; that he loves without equivocation our precious sons and daughters who serve in the military; that he loves without equivocation the American people. Thank You for Your goodness to us.

We covet his safety, O Lord, for many are those who would sweep him from the scene. He seeks what is best for us, while others seek what is best for self. We are continually amazed at so stark a contrast ... evil would overtake and overpower good with alluring words and false promises. Give us ears to hear and eyes to see, that we not be deceived. Give us strength of commitment to match that of our President and his administration ... give us voices of purpose and reason that will be heard above the din of deception ... grant success of mission, for it means life and liberty to millions.

The nations are being shaken by words of impending attack ... may all those involved in intelligence gathering and assessment be graced with the greatest wisdom. Let nothing slip through that would bring harm, but may the information received be useful in exposing every plan ... in stopping every attack ... in bringing the enemy to his knees. Bring the media to our side, Merciful Father, for often it seems to be the enemy within. Stop the mouths of our own officials who speak words that seem to give aid and comfort to the enemy. Their positions of power are a granted privilege from the people, and not a right. May we be emboldened to further hold them to account, even as we must give an account to You for every idle word.

Continue to look with mercy upon our beloved United States, for greatly You have favored us in liberties founded in You, but greatly we have incurred Your displeasure by disobedience. Forgive us, Lord, personally and nationally ... revive us in our prayer that we return to being a Godly nation. May we be circumspect in our efforts to protect our citizens and our treasures ... stir us to vigilance. Cause the enemy to stumble ... reveal any plan against us that it may be thwarted. Unite us in our efforts to defend our homeland ... to defend freedom-loving peoples in other nations, for we cannot afford to underestimate the power or presence of evil. Grace us with wisdom, O God, that we might hope that our efforts will ensure that generations to come will love, as we, this one nation, under God.

May Your Shield of protection and victory surround each precious one serving in the military. Uphold them and sustain them ... let them know without a doubt the gratitude of their countrymen, and may they, in turn, show their gratitude to those of other countries serving with them. This is a changed generation, Lord ... ones who have seen the true face of evil. Bring them safely home, and then inspire them to continue their efforts in the common defense of our homeland, now as citizens who know that our national life is at stake. May it be thus, Gracious God, in the Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen ...
