First Significant UK formation of 2004 spotted
On May 3, near Deacon Hill in Bedfordshire, UK, the first significant formation of the year has been spotted in a flowering field of oil seed rape.
The formation is similar in design to the 2003 Locust Grove, Ohio formation that appeared close to the Serpent Mound earthwork.
Although it has been raining rather steadily, since being spotted, the formation has been inspected, and there have been some details that have emerged which may indicate the formation may be not have been a human mechanically-made one.

A four-fold 'flower' design based around a squared circle. Approx 90-100' dia.. Located at the top of the hill (there is a lot of wind damage in the field at the bottom) it's almost grown up, so looks like it's been there for a few days.

Formation in wheat, 110 meters (361 feet) long. Evidence of insects melted to the wheat plants and elongated and reoriented wheat nodes.

Yup. Just some good ol' boys havin' some after dark fun... nuthin' to it...
This one looks like it would be a bit more challenging for humans to create. I still have to ask though, why do the creators of these things only make them in grain fields? Why don't they cut them in sand, soil, rock etc?
Haven't these figures been shown to have been made by man?
nazca bump
This idea, that advanced space beings visited the earth early in human history and played a part in the development of human intelligence and technology, reached its greatest popularity with Swiss writer Erich von Danikens book Chariot of the Gods?, first published in West Germany in 1968 and reprinted in translated editions around the world. According to von Daniken, the Nazca lines marked out an "airfield" on which spacecraft landed and took off.
Still, nothing in the nature of these lines points to such a purpose. In fact, a critic of von Daniken stated, "It hardly seems reasonable that advanced extraterrestrial spacecraft would require landing strips," adding that Nazcas "soft, sandy soil" was hardly suitable for an airport.
Yet when the first space shuttle flight landed at Edwards AFB in California, many who viewed the landing on television were struck by the similarity of the markings that covered the field on which the shuttle landed and those in the Nazca desert.
Where and when were these made? They seem to be a different genus than crop circles.
