McCain looks like he is running for president, probably with Lieberman on either a 3rd party ticket or will be drafted by the dems...rto

Tim made a point of saying " the unedited interview with Powell"

*****

Could this mean that the interview was not done live, and the MTP producers=Tim decided to run it as it came across the satellite feed, intentionally to embarass the SOS?

PS: Where was Powell, what country?

That was funny to see Brit put Juan in his place.

Juan was getting hysterical because he didnt like being reminded that war is ugly and the prison abuse is overblown.

There's a thread on it...
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld and one of his top aides authorized the expansion of a secret program that permitted harsh interrogations of detained members of Al Qaeda, allowing these methods to be used against prisoners at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, according to an article in The New Yorker. The article, by Seymour M. Hersh

Well, Peter Jennings kicked off this talking point on Thursday, I believe it was. I posted right away about how he took to separate issues and tried to twist them together.

It is not trouble for Rumsfeld since one has nothing to do with the other.

Since the perverted guards situation is an aberration and isolated it demonstrates policy did not influence their behavior. That is the obvious fact and truth and the media clymers can twist and spin until the cows come home, but they cannot make up down and down up.

BTW, Tim Russert is a clymer extraordinaire. I'm reading this thread to see if others commented on what I saw. I avoided his show this morning as he's become a transparent DNC shill, however when Fox News Sunday (which airs here at the same time) ended an interview with Colin Powell and brought on Carl Levin I did switch back to MTP in time to see and hear Timmy wrap up HIS interview with Powell.

Timmy imagines he's witnessing and covering Watergate redux and intoned solemnly (what an ASS) to the camera that he appreciated the Secretary giving an uneditied interview and he thanked him for it "despite", the potato says seriously, his press secretary trying to stop him whilst Timmy was asking his last question.

So, let me get this straight: Powell gives an unedited interview and Clymer Russert still tries to convey a cover-up was afoot.

I despise him. The obvious answer is the press secretary was indicating a schedule/time issue and it was time to wrap up. It looks to me that Powell is appearing on 3 or 4 programs.

I had chosen Fox over MTP because Russert has been losing my respect the last few months with his obvious desire to "get" the Bush administration, facts and reason be damned. Today he demonstrated my perception was 100% correct.

I just read the transcript of the exchange with Timmy and Gen. Powell on MTP. On one hand it's pretty funny. YOu have to admire the fact that an aide was trying to protect her boss.

On the other hand I can only IMAGINE how the RATS are gonna spin this one tomorrow.

I thought the guy behind Powell was a security breach, it made me uncomfortable.

It seemed the camera man was distracted also. I wonder if for the same reason.

Best not to imagine a suicide vest on that guy.

Yes I am profiling.

They won't pick McCain because they can't control him .. McCain follows his own drum and the Liberals need someone who won't up stage Kerry and that will follow the party line

I'd LOVE to have heard what Brit said to Juan after the cameras were off.

Since McCain is one of Bush's campaign co-chairs in Arizona, I hope JD is watching him very carefully and keeping him 'honest' in his co-chairing function.

I think some people are under the mistaken impression that because Russert does an interview with Rush once a year and acts civilized during the process, somehow he's an OK guy.

He's a die hard leftist with all the associated baggage.
I can't stand to watch him...and don't.

I noticed Wallace on FoxNews Sunday didn't quote from my letter I sent him.

Last week he ended the 'tribute' by saying he was 'astonished' at the good the Coalition had accomplished in Iraq.

I wrote that most Americans who bothered to get away from the media and get their news, unfiltered, from the Internet, etc., were not 'astonished'. We knew our troops were accomplishing much good. We saw pictures and read emails, not filtered, but from those 'boots on the ground'.

I was astonished that Chris was astonished.

The whole interview seemed to be awkward. Don't know why.

Can't believe Tim was such a clymer. Guess he isn't looking for anymore Powell interviews for a while.

Question? For several weeks now when I watch Fox News Sunday every so often the person speaking (usually someone on our side) is cut off. Is anyone else getting this happening to them? Any idea what is causing it?

I think it has something to do with the satalite, but my husband disagrees with me.

I still want to know what the point of showing that was .. it was obvious that Powell was willing to answer Tim's questions

I'm sure there have been a number of taped interviewed with Dems where they actually walked off the interview .. yet they never air those

****

So the story is : Why did Russert intenionally insult an American Secretary of State while he was in a foreign country doing official Secretary of State duties.

Can Russert assure us that in the history of satellite communication, MTP has always in its long and "illustrious" run had miscommunications that had to be kept "unedited?" Or could it be - No-oo-o - that Timmy delighted in a gotcha moment with a Bush admin official.
