May 14, 2004 -- THE murder of Nick Berg, a 26-year-old American businessman, by a group of Islamist terrorists in Iraq continues to send shock waves through much of the West. What has impressed most people is the fact that the terrorists cut Mr. Berg's head in the way that sheep are beheaded at the annual Feast of the Sacrifice.

We as a country better get out PC heads out of the sand and learn more about the enemy and we had better make up our PC minds that this is a world war and we sure as heck better win it but we won't as long as we refuse to see the enemy for what it is.

We are told this isn't a war against Islam. Well those Islamists sure call it a war against everything that isn't Islam, so like it or not. This is a holy war and it started a long time before 9-11.

But if you'll re-read the article it *was* about historical practices of Islam, so the comparison is reasonable.

The day I saw the Berg beheading I started to drop the movie "Gladiator" into the VCR, and then realized that movie portrayed beheading as entertainment. One who is not self-righteous, it seems to me, cannot help but be introspective, and perhaps a bit self-critical.

I have no problem beheading them given the chance, but I would prefer to be true to my culture and go for a broad axe or very heavy long blade.

The only thing they will ever fear is being squashed....not their women or children (well, maybe the males ones).

Islamic culture seems mostly to value and mourn male power figures....how strange....we elevate our women.
