May 14, 2004 -- THE murder of Nick Berg, a 26-year-old American businessman, by a group of Islamist terrorists in Iraq continues to send shock waves through much of the West. What has impressed most people is the fact that the terrorists cut Mr. Berg's head in the way that sheep are beheaded at the annual Feast of the Sacrifice.

Well, at least it isn't as bad as blowing up scores of innocent people in suicide attacks...
Bump for later. I'll have nice dreams tonight...
I wonder if that brigadeer General who came on a TV interview and said the Abu Gharib prison photos " are the worst thing I've ever seen" has got around to viewing the video yet.
About a year ago a tourist from the LA area was killed in this way in the Phillipines, the only reason given was that he was a Christian.
Grossly under-estimated. There were almost 17,000 Indian/British/Afgans that fled Kabula and were massacred.
So, is this guy saying that the Koran says nothing about lethal injection???? ;)
I want these crazy and violent people away from me and my family. Is the INS listening, or do they even exist anymore?
The march began with about 3,800 Indian soldiers, 700 Britishers (400 soldiers of the 44th Foot, about 100 cavalrymen, various officers and a few families), 3,800 Indian soldiers and 11,000 to 12, 000 servants, cooks, water carriers, grooms, blacksmiths, families of the fighting men and prostitutes.
Perhaps the U.N. can pass a resolution disallowing the severing of heads ...
Amir Taheri was interviews on CNN International yesterday.
The interviewer asked a typical stupid question; "But, off course these people were not acting within Islam?"
Amir Taheri: "On, the contrary, beheadings have a very prominent place in Islam going back to the profet himself".
Interviewer: Stunnen silence.
I hope the author is correct. I'm worried the exact opposite is true, and that "we're" more worried about the treatment some prisoners received in jail.
Right, and then they'll refuse to enforce it...
CBS early morning news was on a few minutes ago, just before 4:30 AM, EST, with a reporter interviewed about why Iraqi detainees aren't subject to the Geneva conventions. (Why weren't their rights observed!!) He said that BUSH and RUMSFELD right after 9/11 (mentioned as an aside...you could tell he didn't want to bring that up)...were able to 'RAM' it through, that they (also he didn't use the words: terrorist or Al Qaeda), 'PANICKED' and were able to get it by congress, who also PANICKED. Since the Iraqis didn't wear uniforms or have a military command, we were able to sneak this by. He declared that we also got this applied to the Taliban in Afghanistan, which wasn't fair since we'd worked with them in the past and had sent an ambassador over there. CBS, as Rush said yesterday, using a Kerry staffer's direct quote, thinks they've finally found the silver bullet to bring Bush down. CBS, et al are in full cry after the admin., doing their damndest to tie our hands and keep us from prosecuting this war, and, frankly, from defending ourselves at all. They're insane.
Actually, a U.N. resolution disallowing beheading would be insensitive to the goals of multicultural diversity and might besmirch the fine history and traditions of Islam.
What were we thinking?
Exactly. That's why the NYT and others downplay the nature of the crime of the Islamists/ it's a cultural thing....We on the other hand are to blame for Berg's death because he was travelling alone in Iraq and we did not stop his lone travel. It's a multicultural thing..Let's bash Rumsfield and the administration, not the monstrous terrorists.
A truly barbaic people stuck in the 6th century
FYI
Worse than barbaric.
Hyperbaric ?
BUMP
You'll need to take responsibility for that yourself, eventually. The guv's primary responsibility is to insure the continuity of itself, not us.
Amnesty International is awfully quiet too.
