May 14, 2004 -- Iraq's feared Abu Ghraib jail was one big sex romp - sometimes by candlelight with an audience watching, U.S. troops said yesterday. Sex and alcohol were commonplace, and soldiers frequently set up candlelit rooms for voyeuristic sex shows, said a soldier who served at the notorious prison.

I can only imagine what NOW has to say concerning this soldier's behavior. She even gives skanks a bad name. I'm curious to know what type of drugs she was able to have access to.
Stay Safe !
The Lynndie Bop?
I just don't know why she was allowed to mix with male prisoners. I knew a female Army prison guard, and she guarded female prisoners. Segregation for obvious reasons.
Maybe this is ignorance on my part, but here in the U.S. do we have females guarding male prisioners? I assume we do but seems like we would female guarding females and males guarding males but then I'm a dinosaur.
Ooh, that's severe!
Hahahahahahahahaha!
So, Diane Sawyer and said news shows will look like morons. They don't necessarily win their point just by saying it.
Why was he charged with Adultery?
>>Besides the "incompetence" charge, dontcha get the feeling that Karpinski will wind up with charges longer than a Chinese Restaurant menu?<<
I would hope so, but you know the media will protect her. . .after all, she is in a mans world and the man is trying to take her down.
>>We can thank Patsy Schroeder and Hitlery for their part in helping dismantle corp morale with their insistence that our combat Armed Forces be under the command of girls -- disrespect was bound to happen.<<
Indeed. It is wrong to place women in combatant roles, or roles that are too close to performing combatant duties. Why? Simple, because when they are placed in such situations they lose whatever feminine presence they have to become one of the boys.
They affect masculine traits of aggression. That is why you hardly ever see a feminine woman in the military. Hold on, Im talking about combatant roles or roles like MPs. These women become men. They have to because those roles require aggression, not feminine traits. Combat and dealing with the enemy is not a situation where Oprah or Dr Phil are needed. Those are situations where Sgt Rock is needed. Even popular media recognizes they truth in what I am saying. . .though they would never admit it.
Consider a couple of typical examples; Alien movies and Captain Janeway from Star Trek. Alien movies have women performing as warriors and they act, speak and think as men. Capt Janeway has a rough, commanding male presence. In neither case are women feminine.
England wasnt some impressionable young woman forced/tricked or somehow made to act the way she did. No. She wasnt merely acting as one of the boys. . .she WAS one of the boys.
Sad.
The soldier said the X-rated liaisons at the prison were made easier by its maze-like layout and that other troops frequently turned a blind eye to what their pals were up to.
"One of the female soldiers supposedly had sex in a gang bang," said Terry Stowe, an MP from California. "From time to time, things like this would happen."
Sounds like normal everyday Army life to me. Nothing new here.
Women in the military is far from PC."
A woman "serving" is a LOT different than leading or participating shoulder-to-shoulder in combat situations.
Please peruse G2's analyses at post #90.
I'm not sure. All I know is that in military prisons, female prisoners are not allowed to be left unattended with male guards -- a female guard must always be there.
It'll be very interesting to observe the dynamics of both the media's treatment of Karpinski, tone of questioning at any subsequent hearings, and remarks by liberal/female members of the Senate and Congress.

Without a doubt...
In the name of political expediency and the movement to eradication ALL tradition, common sense and nature have been tossed down the basement and arms twisted.

It remains to be seen how she is "portrayed."
I'm betting she is made to be a victim in order to preserve and maintain the status quo of the Armed Service's ongoing "feminization" process, and liberal agenda.
I have no problem deciding why she was accepted by the recruiter, who probably had personal reservations.
Political correctness
If we aren't willing to stop it then this will be the result. We will have the whores amongst our troops on the base rather than camp followers off base.
Unfortunately to some extent I think you may be right about sexual excess being 'normal everyday army life'.
Ayers Kaserne, Germany where I was stationed from roughly 3/80-10/82 ws the home of the 1st Bde, 3rd AD, plus assorted attached stuff, a maintainence BN, a Hawk Btry, and some other stuff along with the Bde HQ. The core of the brigade was 3 tank bns and 2 of mech inf, a very large bde, the largest in USAREUR I think.
The women in the bde were asigned to the support formations, HQ, commo, maintainence, perhaps 150-200 in all among thousands of men. It wasn't what you'd call a wholesome atmosphere.
The guys that worked in the Hawk Btry would complain bitterly about the women getting out of night, weekend, and holiday duty by screwing their NCOs. The Bde HQ barracks had concertina wire on the fire escapes to keep the guys out of the women's area.
Several women were busted by CID for running a whore house operation out of their room (one of the reasons for the concertina wired fire escapes).
Yelling and flashing back and forth between the buildings was common ("Show us yer t*ts! Show us yer d***s! Not big enough! Go get Mikey! He's got one this big!" Loud yells of appreciation when Mikey made his appearance with a bag on his head).
Girls that would "put out" were passed on from buddy to buddy as people got "short", not unlike the way old GI beater cars were (anyone remember the Ford Taunus?).
The consensus among the troops was that the women GIs were all sluts or dykes and the occasional "nice girl" was a hunched shouldered, shell shocked rarity, moving quickly among the guys without making eye contact.
There was a certain feeling in those days of: "We're all gonna die if the Russkies come across the line, so we might as well live it up today and sell our lives dearly tomorrow" that may have contributed to the behavior.
My CO had a framed picture of a barbed wire jock strap on his desk, the joke was that it was a combat supporter (I was in the scout platoon of the Combat Support Company consisting of a maintainence plt, Scouts, Mortars, Redeye AD, and GSR).
The other thing on his desk was a "mission statement" that said something like "Mission: Defend to retain, ie., to fight cutoff, without hope of relief, reinforcement or survival."
Anyways, that's my 20 odd year old recollections and 2 cents worth for whatever it's worth.

Double post apologia, sorry for the finger stutter.
Lock them up and throw away the key.
I agree. My point is that the post stated women do not belong in the military and went on to blame Bush and Clinton. That statement simply is flawed on it's face as women and men both being in the military has not historically been an issue, and Bush and Clinton had nothing to do with it's implementation and would be unable to reverse it.
