"I've always thought Kerry was a terrible candidate," [Slate.com Commentator Mickey] Kaus, a Democrat, said in an interview. "I think he is proving that ... now. Democrats are definitely panicking." (Jill Lawrence, “Dems Divided Over Kerry's Performance,” USA Today, www.usatoday.com/news/politicselections/nation/president/2004-05-11-kerry-usat_x.htm, 5/12/04)

I have a pet theory that part of the trouble with Kerry is precisely that he is such an incredibly crummy candidate. What I mean is, he could easily be destroyed, on the basis of his Senate record alone. That, combined with the fact that not even his own wife seems to actually like the man...ouch. However, if the GOP destroys him before the Dim Convention, I think that the Dims will find a way to nominate someone else. And we all know who that is. So Kerry has to be left standing for a while longer.

I heard a snippet of Querry's interview with Alan Colmes tonite. He ('F'in) challenged Bush and/or Cheney to a debate about - what else? - Vietnam, in particular what everyone was up to in the Vietnam years. I think Bush and Cheney should seriously consider taking the boy up on his offer. The media would be intense and it would offer Bush/Cheney an opportunity to highlight Jacques' dubious medal awards, aiding and abetting the enemy with anti-war activities, aligning himself with would-be political assassins, etc.

I have a pet theory that this shows how some Dems would vote for Mr. Ed if he was the nominee.

I've been hearing about the "nominate someone else" theory, but I can't put any stock in it, Kerry already has enough first ballot committed votes without the superdelegates, all the Rats could possibly get him to do is drop out if they REALLY think he can't win. Good luck, Kerry thinks he's entitled to the nomination!

He's the placeholder candidate, the left knows it cannot defeat Bush, so somebody has to fill in to make room for Hillary in 2008. The Rats have already pretty much given up on this one, too bad, money they could waste on Kerry will be spent on House and Senate races.

I hear he has an October surprise waiting -- this fall he's going to reveal he fought in Vietnam. That's what I heard.

I think this is more than just a startling outburst of clarity from the donks.

The extreme left; the ANSWERistas, Kos, DU, Indymedia, Chomskyites, jihad collaborators, ad nauseum; have been gearing up to depose Kerry for some time.

Several weeks ago, an article in the moonbat element's journal of record, the Village Voice, called for an open convention. DU, which had no compunction about purging Naderists, continues to tolerate other far-left attacks on Kerry ("Bush-lite" etc).

The far left's blackshirt thug forces are making elaborate plans to disrupt the Democrat as well as the Republican conventions.

The 1968 Chicago convention riots have almost iconic status with the far left. The 1968 convention's abject surrender in the face of a violent assault is a lesson not lost on today's would-be revolutionaries.

What is going on here? The extreme leftists apparently believe that it is within their power to replace Kerry with a candidate who will adhere more openly to the pro-jihad totalitarian line, including unconditional pullouts from Iraq and Afghanistan, abandonment of Israel, surrender of US sovereignty to the EU and UN, Stalin-style kangaroo-court trials for Bush and others, and any number of the other treasonous crackpot demands that are actually majority opinion among media and academic elites.

Bush has shown weakness by not cracking down on outright treason and by making concessions to PC tactics and media propaganda in fighting the war. The lords of the pop-left are smelling blood and they are likely to see this as their best opportunity in decades, perhaps ever, but Kerry is in the way.

Needless to say, these are demonic forces and they must be defeated by any means necessary. Someone here is fond of saying "civil war in 10 years." I give it seven weeks.

Kerry was in Vietnam? I'd never heard that before. Is it true? How long was he there?

I hope it's not true becaues even if he was only a low-ranking officer he'd be untouchable on defense and policy issues. No one could disagree with any positions he's taken on any subject without questioning his unquestionable patriotism. Gees. I pray he's a nonvet like 98% of Americans.

Not to mention his admission to being a war criminal (or a perjurer if one accepts he was lying) as well as his action of treason in negotiating with NVA negotiators in Paris while the war was still in progress. A good dose of Gen. Giap explaining how Kerry was amongst those who provided the encouragement for them to continue the war and eventually win it, otherwise they would have surrendered. How many Americans died because of Kerry's actions instead of Vietnam surrendering?

"I have a pet theory that this shows how some Dems would vote for Mr. Ed if he was the nominee."

There is a delightful Southern political term: "Yellow Dog Democrat". Taken to mean that the particular voter would vote for any Democrat candidate, even if it was a "ol' yaller dawg".

Now, it's rather ludicrous to consider the blue-blooded Kerry a "ol' yaller dawg". But a "spavined ol' hoss" kinda fits...
