BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) Mexican President Vicente Fox on Thursday said he was concerned about the situation in Iraq and wanted the United Nations to play a greater role.
"We would like to see a strong and active presence of the United Nations and with enough capacity to solve this conflict," Fox said during a visit to the Hungarian capital. "Mexico's position at this time is one of worry about what is happening in Iraq."
Though tradition and the constitution prevent Mexico from contributing troops to military operations or peacekeeping efforts, the country is "involved in the search for peaceful solutions to such conflicts," Fox said after meeting Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Medgyessy.
The Hungarian leader said Budapest was determined to keep its 300 troops in Iraq at least until their mandate expired at the end of 2004, adding that the country was among those "who decidedly stand up to terrorism."
Fox was to visit Poland on Friday, as part of a European trip meant to strengthen political and economic ties.

Mexican President Vicente Fox on Thursday said he was concerned about the situation in Iraq and wanted the United Nations to play a greater role.I know that you don't consider institutional corruption to be a big deal, Vincente, but most of us Americans are rather perturbed about the graft in the Oil-for-Food program.

Sounds to me like he's really worried he'll miss out on a piece of the UN's 'action'.

You'll note that there is one nation Fox isn't trying to fix.But it's too hard to fix that one. It might require things like actual reform, abolishing corruption, giving up his payments from the drug cartels.... I mean the list just goes on and on! It would really wreck his lifestyle.

Fox is always trying to increase the power of the UN and he desperately wants to be put in charge. He is doing whatever he can using all the pull he's got to destroy US sovreignty.

Strong? Active? Solve conflict? What UN is Fox talking about? He needs to try these words, Corrupt, Hand Wringing, Run Away, to describe the UN the rest of us know. El Foxo must be smoking too much pot.
