Wow!
Last year there was a big push to get the communications system up and running again in Iraq. I know someone who worked in Iraq for a large well-known company that often does government contract work. Berg was a free-lancer, but evidently worked like a sub-contractor, and hired his services out to firms like these. And I'm sure they paid him fairly well.
And a tip o' the tinfoil hat.
One thing I feel safe in predicting is that the Prometheus books will not show enough income to support Nick's travels.
The left will be sorry they sent everyone to FR. There is something rotten the the Berg household.
Thanks for posting the link. Clears up one mystery.
I definitely missed that bit of information. Now why would someone want his niece or nephew's unit to get into all this trouble?
"They didn't know Nick was their best friend."
It keeps coming back to this statement. I hope FOX picks up on this. The father needs to be investigated just on THAT statement alone.
I thought it had been reported that he was not employed or contracted with those companies. Also, the tone of his emails home suggest to me that he was dealing with locals and not with anyone operating under the coalition. That is in line with suspicions apparently strong enough to get him hauled in by someone or another in Iraq.
[All that and the fact that his old man makes me want to believe the worst of the entire family.]
Should read
"Ashcroft, Berg, terrorists link not proven..."
The left will be sorry they sent everyone to FR. There is something rotten the the Berg household.
Which set of books? The real ones, or the cooked ones?
The left is going to find out just what sorry means. (eg)
I read something on this earlier today but can't remember where. What I remember reading went something like this. The consulate representative (female) had mistakenly said the military was holding him. By the time she got the correct info that it was not the US Military holding Nick Berg, he was out of the custody of the Iraqi soldiers and supposedly on his merry way. So therefore she didn't send another e-mail to correct her mistake as to who was holding him.
If he was a double agent, we'll probably never know.
That's the risk that double agent's take. No one ever knows where their loyalties lie, or whether they have any.
What? Hey John, define "is"...if Nick Berg had no ties to terrorists, why not just come out and say so, instead of using weasel words? How hard would it be to come out and say that Berg had no involvement with terrorists or their activities, in plain English?
I just hate when the government does that.
It is also of interest that Prometheus Radio, a Leftist "low power radio" NGO HQd in Philly, put out a denial of any connection with Promethius Method Tower Services, also, naturally, of Philly. Mike Berg as an ANSWER member and one of "the 2000" who signed a recent manifesto against the war, Bush and the US, would also have been likely to cross paths with Prometheus Radio founder and commisar "Pete TriDish" (an obvious alias) given the fact that "Pete" has spoken at ANSWER protests in Philly.
There is no evidence. Again, suspicion is further fueled. Was Berg either knowingly or unwittingly facilitating a pirate Communist / anti American radio network in Iraq?
To tell you the truth, I don't know what to think about this story. I'll wait for more information.
