Berg Died for Bush, Rumsfeld 'Sins' - Father

PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - The father of Nick Berg, the Pennsylvania contractor beheaded in Iraq (news - web sites), on Thursday directly blamed President Bush (news - web sites) and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld for his son's death.

"My son died for the sins of George Bush and Donald Rumsfeld. This administration did this," Berg said in the interview with radio station KYW-AM.

In the radio interview from outside his home in West Chester, Pennsylvania, a seething Michael Berg also said his son probably would have felt positive even about his executioners until the last minute.

"I am sure that he only saw the good in his captors until the last second of his life," Berg said.

Then, referring to his son's executioners, he said: "They did not know what they were doing. They killed their best friend."

Two days after the publication of a video showing the execution of his son by five masked men, Berg attacked Bush administration for its invasion of Iraq and its sponsorship of the Patriot Act, which gave increased powers of surveillance to the federal government.

Berg described the Patriot Act as a "coup d'etat." He added: "It's not the same America I grew up in."

Nick Berg's father seems to be changing his story each day. Yesterday he stated that Nick was a big supporter or Bush and the Iraqi campaign. Now he's implying that Nick was really a sympathizer of his captors. What's exactly is going on here?

"Are you going to bash them all too?"

I'm sure it's not about bashing the guy. It's just the situation of people being so blase' about his being there. His father is comparing our President to being worse than the terrorists that killed his son. Blaming everyone ELSE for his sons death, than who was responsible for it. Nick didn't have to be there. That is the only point. Being in a warzone, you really have to be careful, that's all. Usually being in a warzone, alone - doesn't usually define being careful.

I just heard on Fox News that Zacarias Moussaoui, the "20th Hijacker", had a Nick Berg e-mail account that he used when both were in Oklahoma.

This horrible man is doing a good job of turning compassionate Americans against him. NOT his son - HIM.

"Nick Berg's father seems to be changing his story each day"

I just heard Michael Bergs interview on a talk radio show excerpt, and he was talking about Nick being friends with the Iraqi people in general. Just clarifying.

Then Reuters is sick and perverted to use his quote.

Interesting speculation ... I really do think there's more to Nick Berg than his dad is letting on. Note also that the person saying that Nick Berg "supported Bush" was ... Nick Berg's dad. Something fishy here...

See my post 267.

Apparently the FBI questioned young Mr. Berg about the Moussaoui connection after 9/11, and found that it was a coincidence. Still, the plot thickens ....

Insane with grief is believable.

Talking to the press in the midst of your insanity is worse than foolish. When might we expect "Dad" Berg to snap out of his grief and give Pres. Bush and Secty. Rumsfeld an apology for his insane comment?

This guy is not only indicting Bush and Rumsfield, but all of us who put this administration into office. He needs to only look in the mirror to see who was responsible for putting all the dimwits in office who have ignored obvious signals from aq and others for years in hopes of appeasing these terrorists. Those were the people who let terrorism escalate "because it could".

Using the death of a loved for partisan political purposes. Sick.

Ok. In that context Michael Berg's statement makes more sense.

Never.
Daddy Berg is a left-wing, anti-war activist.
Spewing hatred is normal for him.

Honestly, does it matter?

What my point was with mizzmouse, is that she was trying to insinuate that CIA or some other group killed Berg. Even if Berg WERE anti-war(which contradicts other testimony) he was still murdered by terrorists.
