PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - The father of Nick Berg, the Pennsylvania contractor beheaded in Iraq (news - web sites), on Thursday directly blamed President Bush (news - web sites) and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld for his son's death.
"My son died for the sins of George Bush and Donald Rumsfeld. This administration did this," Berg said in the interview with radio station KYW-AM.
In the radio interview from outside his home in West Chester, Pennsylvania, a seething Michael Berg also said his son probably would have felt positive even about his executioners until the last minute.
"I am sure that he only saw the good in his captors until the last second of his life," Berg said.
Then, referring to his son's executioners, he said: "They did not know what they were doing. They killed their best friend."
Two days after the publication of a video showing the execution of his son by five masked men, Berg attacked Bush administration for its invasion of Iraq and its sponsorship of the Patriot Act, which gave increased powers of surveillance to the federal government.
Berg described the Patriot Act as a "coup d'etat." He added: "It's not the same America I grew up in."

I don't remember hearing about any Cynthia Kennedy. Did you mean Cynthia McKinney, the extremist former Congresswoman from Georgia who was defeated in the Democrat primary?

"We're not going to continue to give Dad the benefit of the shock and grief factor much longer."
Good point. The father is a loon. Ignore him.
I also withdraw my question re his son being part of the ANSWER crowd. Liberal or Conservatice, he went over there to help the Iraqis.

Since it matters to you, the father is the lefty. Nick Berg was a supporter of the war in Iraq and President Bush. The son is not the father"
How do you know this beyond what the commie/dad claimed?

I just think it shows how people are so naive that they actually believe that all people are good or even have some good in them. Some people have no good in them, are not capable of doing what is good and are so depraved that no one is going to get through.

Anybody getting tired of cutting Michael Berg any slack?
He's coming very close to loosing any pity I have for him.

You have to give the guy a break, Insane with grief is believeable. He just lost his son.I wish the press would give him a break instead of repeating his hysterical moonbat pronouncements 24/7.

Mr. Berg:
The mohammadans whom you've been providing aid and comfort didn't use a guillotine to slay your son.
They used a machete, probably rusty. And you, pere Berg, and your comrades at CANSWER have been empowering the bastards. You provide your rhetorical aid and comfort to them and they repay you by slaughtering your son.
Bush and Rumsfeld didn't do this, filthy mohammadan savages killed you son. They killed him because he was an American and a Jew.
Did you think they would try to make peace with you, as their benefactor? LOL
Feel the burn?

How do you know this beyond what the commie/dad claimed? A high-school friend of Nick has been quoted as saying that Nick supported this administration and believed in the war. Also, there was an article which quoted some of the emails that Nick sent to a friend, and some of the things Nick said in his emails indicated that he believed liberating Iraq was right.
Even without those though, it would be strange to believe otherwise since there's no evidence to the contrary.
Finally, Nick's politics don't matter. AQ killed an American citizen. That's what matters.

Ah but the media is on a righteous crusade to sway public opinion agaisnt the war and agaisnt our troops - just like they did in Viet Nam.
What? You were expecting ethics? From the like of the NYT and Boston Globe? LOL. :)
What I don't understand is why no one's ever gone postal on the press when they camp out on your front lawn and harrass you 24/7. You'd think by now...

Well, if the independent media are correct, he sure had a ton of time to discern if they were good people. I bet he had about 8 hours to decide if they were sane people. (oozing sarcasm)
Father Berg will get a pass from me for the time being. If he shows up in Boston spouting the same comments, then it's open season.

You're right, Mr. Berg...this is certainly not a case of "Father Knows Best", either (pun intended). More like "Father Knows Nothing About The Price of Freedom". I understand his grief, but rebuke his condemnation of our Commander In Chief.
It amazes me that people continue to blame Bush for the montrosities of barbarians.

or perhaps Mr. Berg is insane with grief Grief such as this is acceptable, even expected, from a woman.
If the statements of this guy are attributable to a public display of grief, he doesn't deserve the stones with which he was born.

Savage is right, liberalism is a mental illness. Michael Berg appears to have had the liberal operation: lobotomy shortly after birth, with the cranial contents being replaced with a steaming hot bucket of Clinton.
I've never been sure how the optic nerves of a liberal translate brown into "rainbows" or "rose". ;-)

Remember, he's Jewish. He probably blames himself more than anyone else and is lashing out. Ironically, I don't remember the press giving this much time to Hammill when he got out and uttered the line about Bush being his hero.

I should learn to sit on my hands when I'm angry rather than posting. I knew I'd get flamed for that.
Nonetheless, the father is an idiot if he blames Bush for Al Queada's atrocity.
