Pretty pathetic. Notice that they FIRST apologize for the content of the photos, then casually mention that they never authenticated them.

but nowhere do they admit what they really were. they leave the impression that they MIGHT be real, just never "authenticated".
Kinda like when Barbara Bush referred to Gerry Ferraro as "rhyming with rich", then apoligizing if anyone got the idea that she had called GF a "witch".

Canceled my subscription at 7:01 am this morning. "Norm" seemed to be a nice guy. Hope he's
really busy today. I was his first call.
He asked me why, I told him I could get better information in the National Enquirer. He just sort of moaned, "Oh".

Right. These photos were allegedly of abuse in Iraqi prisons. But they were really cribbed from porno websites. LOL! Dumbo-crats!

I hate the Globe- I hate all their columnists (Derrick Jackson being the worst). But I have to grudgingly admit that they were 100% right about Billy Bulger and his crimelord murdering brother Whitey when I was a starry eyed idiot who thought the Globe was only going after them because they were Irish Catholics and conservative Democrats. And they did break the Catholic priest pedo scandal as well.
I think some editor let his "Bush hate" get ahead of his better judgement when they let these photos go through.

By not authenticating and being able to 'correct', the media shows it's process in delivering the so called news to the public it supposedly serves.
Time honored process well documented at the New York Slimes and all of the left leaning media outlets.

What page was this on?
I don't think this was a mistake. They wanted the pictures out, knowing they were fakes, because it fits their agenda. It's easy to bury a correction the next day where no one will see it.

And they did break the Catholic priest pedo scandal as well. Purely disinterested on their part, right? Look how they went after Clinton. Oh, wait . . .
And my understanding is that they knew about the Church scandal long before they decided the time was right to break it (lots of people noted that the Pope was ailing at the time, and they thought it would be a good time to influence the election of a more liberal one).

I think some editor let his "Bush hate" get ahead of his better judgement when they let these photos go through. Or, as Howie Carr speculated, all the higher ups were too busy planning their Provincetown weddings come Monday to pay attention.

And they did break the Catholic priest pedo scandal as well. Forgot this in my earlier post. The Globe's whole series was printed as a book, with appendices. I don't think the word "homosexual" appears in it at all (except maybe to claim that the 80%-90% of cases that are apparently homosexual abuse of adolescent males aren't really about homosexuality). Terrific coverage.
