[history]
Thanks to Rep. Heather Wilson, New Mexico Republican and a former military officer, we now know the sequence of events that led to the American military police abuse and torture of Iraqi prisoners in the Abu Ghraib prison. A military investigation in late summer 2003 of the 800th Military Police Brigade under Brig. Gen. Janis Karpinski by Maj. Gen. Geoffrey D. Miller found a breakdown in discipline at the prison. When told that her troops were not even saluting, the general refused to order them to begin doing so.

How is this going to play in Peoria?
Seems the cause may be political correctness in the military. More Clinton legacy.

And why is this still news? Who is torturing whom? Take no prisoners.

Ah, now we are getting to the root of the problem - a FEMALE in charge! She obviously did NOT have their respect and NOT qualified to be in a leadership position.
"Central Command, concerned about the breakdown but apparently worried about disciplining one of the HIGHEST RANKING FEMALE ARMY OFFICERS in Iraq, devised a COMPROMISE bureaucratic solution to hand control of the critical central interrogation prison at Abu Ghraib to the military intelligence unit questioning the prisoners."
Afraid to throw her out? A COMPROMISE?
This is what COMPROMISE gets you!
Are the FEMINISTS aware of this?

No values are higher in the Arab world than male brutality and female subjection.

It just gets better:
"To a personnel officer, the worm in the apple was a simple bureaucratic decision, the equal opportunity assignment to unit command without consideration of sex. While Congress has insisted upon restricting women from direct combat roles in the military, the male officers have been unwilling or unable to stop the steady spread of women into close support positions, as the casualty figures in Iraq demonstrate."

"Placing a woman in charge of Iraq prisons when the U.S. was trying to win the hearts and minds of the population was an affront to this culture. "
Women there are regarded as highly as street dirt. Dogs are deemed more valuable than women. Is it any wonder we are NOT winning the cultural war over there and HERE it NEVER made sense to have females in combat position much less leadership roles.

While Congress has insisted upon restricting women from direct combat roles in the military, the male officers have been unwilling or unable to stop the steady spread of women into close support positions, as the casualty figures in Iraq demonstrate. They would have to take on the whole liberal culture of the American media and social establishment, including many Republicans, to do so. I am probably one of the few women, other than maybe J. Lynch's mom, who believes women have no place in a combat situation. And more so in an Arab country where rape is pretty much legal.

"The picture was blurry enough that sex was not obvious. The accompanying thousand-word story did not reveal the soldier's sex either. Indeed, Gen. Karpinski was not identified as a woman, and in these days of sex-neutral first names, who could be sure? "
It was pretty obvious to those with a brain and eyes.
Give me a break!

Crusher thanks for posting what many of us have suspected re the Clintoon Brig General in charge:
"Thanks to Rep. "Central Command, concerned about the breakdown but apparently worried about disciplining one of the highest ranking female Army officers in Iraq, devised a compromise bureaucratic solution to hand control of the critical central interrogation prison at Abu Ghraib to the military intelligence unit questioning the prisoners. The critical order was issued October 12, 2003, and was confirmed by Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez in November. This put the interrogators in charge and was the precipitating event for what investigating Maj. Gen. Antonio Taguba called sadistic criminal abuses, the first one of which apparently took place on October 17, 2003.
Travis please repost your comments earlier this week about the total lack of military discipline you noticed in this group of losers.

It was pretty obvious to those with a brain and eyes. Yeah, I don't know too many men named "Lynndie" and "Janis". And if there are, they go by the nickname of "Butch".

BTW, is Brig. Gen. Janis Karpinski a lesbian as well?
The approval of this humiliation certainly leaves me wondering since lesbians have NO use for men and would despise THEIR cultural values to females and their views of lesbianism. What a way to retaliate against that cultural view.
