Sorry, I don't see this as representing anything. Apparently the naked men in the pyramid and the simulated sex acts were accused of raping a 15 year old in detention. Not to justify the acts, but I don't think it was a matter of getting off on porn as much as humiliating alleged gay-rapists.

As for the other stuff, brutality was happening in the Army(all armies) since the beginning. Especially when dealing with a foreign enemy, this tends to happen.

Porn has little or nothing to do with it, as the vast majority of American men(and maybe most women) have viewed something that would qualify as porn but would not engage in abuse of prisoners.

The left is using this issue as a bludgeon against Bush and some on the right are using it as their culture war bludgeon.

I instinctively felt the correlation of the widespread cornucopia of porn as having a direct influence on the behavior of those prison guards and "guests" not to mention the oh so weird female one star general so busy practicing her "fisting" technique to even care what was going on over at the prison.

"As long as we're in the apology business here, isn't it time for liberals to apologize for systematically aiding and abetting the cultural depravity that produced the Iraq scandal?"

Yes, yes, yes and yes!!! But don't hold your breath.

It is liberalism, and it's attack on morality, that is almost entirely responsible for that prison scandal.

I agree 100% with the above article. Our world and the Muslim world each have their own version of depravity. However, as bad as the Iraqi prisoner scandal is, it is far from approaching the evil brutality of the beheading of Nick Berg perpetrated by radical Muslim pigs.

We have arrived at the "Perfect Storm" of American cultural depravity. Along with photos of Iraqi prisoners being abused in an American prison, we now apparently have photos of American soldiers having sex and committing homosexual acts on prisoners. In the real-life story of "The Perfect Storm," a group of singularly natural, dangerous conditions came together to create an utterly lethal mix.

Diversity/tolerance bump.

Good article John. Truthfully, one of the first things I thought after hearing of the prisoner abuse was that these were probably the children of liberal parents!!
