I vehemently disagree with you.
Lets compare Islam to the bubonic plague. Not all rats were infected, but it was rats that spread it. Did we think about being 'fair' to all the uninfected rats when human lives were at stake? Could we AFFORD to pick and choose infected from uninfected rat? Was it even possible?
No.
Fairness is a luxury we cannot afford when our lives and the destruction of our civilization is at stake.
Plague infected rats were mixed in with the 'clean' rats just as the most militant Islamics are in the general Muslim culture. The DIFFERENCE is that the 'good rats' in Islam do not separate themselves from the militants. They openly or tacitly support and defend them.
Just because a Muslim does not have the guts to BE a terrorist does NOT mean that they disavow terrorism. Look at the celebration in the streets!
My point is, Islam ,as EVERY Muslim is taught it, is about subjugating or destroying all that stands against it. That IS the dogma all Muslims MUST believe to be a Muslim.
You can no more separate the individual Muslim from the basics of Islam than we could separate plague infected rats from clean ones.
If ANY other religion had it's leaders preaching violence against other cultures and faiths, its believers should EXPECT to be judged by those teachings. If priests were in churches encouraging violence against, say, Mormons- I would EXPECT Mormons to judge me, as a Catholic, accordingly.
Live by the religion. Get JUDGED by the religion.

I can't imagaine how you ascertain that either sweneop or I am in the grip of Political Correctness as regards Muslims: I was merely congratulating him on expressing a dynamic that I think is recurrent in the ongoing struggle of US vs. Them. If I had my way there would be NO muslims in this country, and I can't imagine why 99% of them are here except

I would have deported about 90% of them after 9-11, JUST ON GENERAL PRINCIPLES, and if the remaining 10% made a lot of noise about it, I would have deported them too. We don't need them here, FOR ANY REASON. Lacking the nerve to start taking a long hard look at what the situation already is, we face a future of watching Islamic "lawmakers" gain a foothold in this country, eventually at ALL levels of government. It has happened with all minorities, who luckily seem to have more interest in assimilating than any Islamist would have.

I believe anyone who has to wear a mask to hide their identity practising what they believe is nothing short of a coward. There are men and women fighting in the world who wear a uniform and fight for something they believe, they do it publically, and with honour. A terrorist, who hides his face, so as to hide his identity, to protect themself from the consequences of their actions has no standing in the human race, particularly a terrorist who takes human life.

If I had the power, I would in one foul swoop find all these people, all their families, all their supporters and kill them all. Anyone who practices or condones this sort of faceless gutless behaviour has no right to breathe the same air clean air as me!

Also, if Islam teaches peace, why are a great number of terrorist acts carried out by followers of the Islamic teachings.

Lets put the photos of what went on in Abu Ghraib into context. For each prisoner that was "mistreated" show the photo of someone who died on 9/11

For every photo of an Iraqi that is killed fighting against the Coalition forces, show a photo of someone that was killed by the hands of Saddam, his sons or their soldiers.

I think peoples memories are far to short.

Harden up, Political Correctness is a 80s term that blood stuck. To hell with it, use your gut, 99.99% of the time it knows whats right and whats wrong, whats moral and whats immoral, common sence should prevail.

If the poor prisoners were a little embarrased by how they were treated, they should thank their luck stars they are still alive. Mistreatement is a common theme in prisons all over the world. Not everyone is stupid enough to photograph the event, but don't deny it doesn't go on, regardless of wether its a civil prison, or a military prison.
