JEFFERSON CITY -- Gov. Bob Holden wrote President George W. Bush on Tuesday saying he was concerned about the use of Missouri National Guard soldiers to drive vehicles for civilian contractors in Iraq.
Holden said if they are, he strenuously objected to the "wrongful use of U.S. Army personnel in this manner."

Well, governor, I don't think that's your call.

Why is any military personnel being used to drive
civilian contractors around?
why don't the civilian contractors hire civilian contractors for this task?

If they are performing logistics work for the military then it's nothing unusual.
To: CWOJackson
Well, now I believe I've seen it all. Every RAT of every dimension will insert itself into this conflict.
To: CWOJackson
I disagree, I have no problem with the military providing
on site security on a case by case basis but not to provide a service such as a personal gofer.
These civilians ain't there for patriotic reasons. They are there for them or their company to make a profit. No way our military should assist them on a complimentary level.

Gasp! Are you insinuated that this was nothing but politics?

Gov. Bob Holden (DEMOCRAT)wrote President George W. Bush on Tuesday
saying he was concerned about the use of Missouri National Guard soldiers to
drive vehicles for civilian contractors in Iraq.
As if that needed to be pointed out.
The DemocRATs are determined to back-stab every effort in Iraq.
I guess they are having fun with LSD flashbacks of how they deep-sixed South Vietnam.
So this is their last hurrah before the old-folks home.

Governor Holden needs to get a real job and stay out of the affairs of our military.

Psst...the article doesn't in any way suggest that. You don think that Brown & Root haven't soak us taxpayers enough to hire their own flunkies?

LOL @ the irony of the ad immediately following the article:
"Join the National Guard - Serve in your own backyard"

Hey Bob....STFU!
How about dealing with Mizzorah's pertinent STATE issues rather than national security and war policy?
With any luck at all (and with any semblance of intellignece by the MO voters), OTB will be writing George Bush letters as a working stiff citizen in 5 months.

Psssst...the article doesn't deny that.

The contractors are there because the military is paying them to accomplish some task. Most probably, the contract includes provisions for the civilians to travel with military convoys for security; as well as secured areas in military camps for the contractors to establish their living space. I know it was done that way in Afghanistan, the Balkans, and Somalia. The National Guard soldiers from Missouri that the governor was complaining about are truck drivers--it is normal for them to be transporting or travelling with contractors who are performing functions in support of the Army.
Of note, almost all of the Union Army logistics in the Civil War was provided by contractors. It was standard to dedicate substantial amounts of Union troops to secure their activities.
To: CWOJackson
It doesn't mention logistics at all. That's just something you pulled out of whatever.

If you were to hear tell of a member of the National
Guard (military) driving the Governor (civilian)around
would you feel the same way? In my state the SHP(civilian)
handles that task.

Just go back to your world and not to worry...adults are in change. Thankfully.
But I'm sure your governor appreciates your support.
To: CWOJackson

there for military reasons.
Easy enough to connect the dots.
Some Democratic activist parents have learned that Junior is driving some KBR
contract workers around.
Thus the attack on Dubya, via the tortuous route of KBR to parent company Halliburton,
thence to Cheney (formerly of Halliburton).
Only suprising thing...it took a Democratic Governor this long to do his part
of the DNC's plan to f---up the efforts to help Iraq into civilization.
Gotta' tip the hat to the DNC and Holden on this end-around play!
