Kristinn just called me and asked me to post this thread.

He just called CBS Evening News and asked them if they were going to show the militant Islamists' video of the beheading of American Nick Berg.

The woman who answered the phone said that they were going to do a story on it, but they were NOT going to show the full video.

He asked them, "Why not, since you had no problem showing the pictures of the Iraqis being abused by our guys in the prison. Don't you think turnabout is fair play?"

The woman got mad and said, "Thank you for your comment." and then hung up the phone.

I probably agree with you but am wondering if, at some point, our country needs to be shocked back into reality concerning this war. Consider that a sizable minority doesn't believe that we really need a 'War on Terror' (after all, the Democrat party still isn't serious about it). Some event will eventually accomplish this sudden comprehension that our civilization is at stake here, but I suspect it will be a devastating attack in DC, NY, etc. The only question is how much worse it will be than 9/11.

I hope that I'm just a pessimist ... (lame joke alert)

To Dan Rather and the producers of CBS News;

CBS News owes all American's an apology. Nick Berg was murdered today because of CBS's new's nakedly political partisan "report" on Iraqi prisoner abuse. Why did CBS news NOT cover this story in January when the Military announced to the "News" media their investigation? CBS News, especially 60 Minutes, must do a complete, indepth coverage of Nick Berg's murder. CBS News has a moral obligation to accept responsibility for this murder. General Meyers warned you but you decided playing childish partisan political games was more important then American lives. Nick Berg's blood is on YOUR hands. CBS News's complicity in his death will not be soon forgotten.

I just watched that video. I really dont want anybody to see it. I am very disturbed by it. I have seen some sick stuff in my day. But the haunting screams the gurgle and the neck break is just horrifying, while the bastard Jihadis dance and yell Alla Akbar. I am ready for a a real crusade now against these asses.

Your absolutely correct about General Meyers warning which was disregarded by CBS. The lead story on their website tonight covers the beheading and it contains this paragraph:

"U.S. officials had feared the shocking photographs of U.S. soldiers abusing and humiliating Iraqis at Abu Ghraib prison west of Baghdad would endanger the lives of American troops and civilians."

I would rather complain to CBS about showing prisoners as a political tool. According to the Geneva Convention photos of prisoners should not be exhibited for display. CBS is further humiliating the prisoners just by showing the photos. Granted CBS does not have to abide by the same rules and the government but it is a prime example that they are just as criminal as those who snapped the photos.

Let's help the newsies out. They need some fresh pics and stories about our military men and women.
If you have a photo of someone who's serving, send it to them, and tell them that the picture they hold in their hand is someone you love and support...someone whose life is in greater danger because of the actions of a few (and the reactions of politicians, polls and pundits).
If you need network addresses, I've got them...just ask. Or send copies to your local stations and ask them to forward your letter to their networks.
(And send a copy of your letter to someone in Iraq. Let them know there's someone fighting for them back home!)
