Pentagon possesses three disks of photos, one of which includes some brief video clips. Many of the photos are redundant, and some have little to do with Iraqi detainees but show sex between U.S. soldiers... Pentagon officials prevailed at least temporarily in their insistence that the administration not immediately release the images, which include the forced masturbation of a detainee...

Back on usenet news years ago, I am a few other argued that homosexuals in the armed forces would lead to EXACTLY this, and when EXACTLY this happen straight males would begin to leave the service in large numbers and young strainght men would not join. Don't ask don't tell, don't work.

I don't know what "forced masturbation" actually consists of, and I don't know that it occurred. If it did, I think that would constitute a war crime.

I was addressing the consensual sex videos involving two US soldiers of the opposite sex, which if they exist, would be a violation of the uniform code of military conduct, but not a war crime, nor torture.

I've said these guards are wrong and what they did is sick. I expect them and whoever knew and/or told them to engage in the behavior to be severely punished.

As far as Hackworth, all I've said about him is he's out to hitch his wagon to the scandal and hurt as many people as he can (not to mention the country) in the process, not help as he claims.

Well, it's the truth, at least from my vantage point. I support the war, I believe that what these soldiers have done is beyond disgraceful, yet it's not My Lai. However, the more crap that keeps coming out and people mocking it just turns my stomach.

I know some folks are going to have a knee-jerk reaction, but no one has yet to point a finger at active duty solders. These "children" here....are all reservists or guardsmen. The prison in Gitmo...run by active-duty...and there aren't any games like this. There is a reason why active-duty folks look down on reservists and guardsmen...and this is so typical.

And ask yourself this...how soon will the public get to see all of these disks? Days or weeks? It will happen sooner or later.

no, i don't. I tried real hard to ignore this scandal, but that is just about impossible now. Return to the tried and true, no gays and no women in combat front line units.
