LOUISVILLE, KY. (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry warned his political opponents on Monday against attacking his outspoken wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, saying, "They're going to have to go through me."
The Massachusetts senator also sought to dispel the notion he was aloof, asking one television interviewer: "Have you had a beer with me yet? I like to have fun as much as the next person, and go out and hack around and have a good time."
Worth an estimated $500 million, born in Mozambique and fluent in five languages, Mrs. Kerry can be controversial and blunt, disclosing her Botox injections, her prenuptial agreement with Kerry and the fact he was in the bathroom when he got word of his wins in Iowa and New Hampshire.
"If they want to attack her, they're going to have to go through me. I'll be the first to defend anything she does. ... She doesn't pull her punches," Kerry said in one television interview when asked if Republicans were targeting his wife.
"I think that they're foolhardy to do it, personally, because I think that she's so down to earth and so straightforward," Kerry said. "I think people who meet her love her."
Mrs. Kerry has been criticized for her outspokenness and candor, and some Republican commentators have also called on her to release her tax returns.
While she is wealthy from her marriage to former Republican Sen. John Heinz, the heir to the Pittsburgh ketchup empire, she said Sen. Kerry was not. She can only contribute the same $2,000 to his campaign everyone else can.
Kerry was able, however, to mortgage the couple's townhouse in Boston to take out a $6.4 million loan to keep his campaign afloat.

First he "pretends" the administration attacked his patriotism, which they hadn't done.
Now he "pretends" the administration has attacked his wife, which they haven't done. Yes, there is a pattern. The only aspect of his life the administration is targeting is his voting record and his tendency to tell different versions of events over time.

Strangely, this thread has cheered me up. I am glad to see that Kerry PO's others as much as he does me.
I actually think this guy has surpassed Clinton on my loathe-o-meter.

You know, the gigilo just wants to protect his sugar-mama. Her dominatrix-ness no doubt ordered Johnny-subby to protect her "honor" and show his submissiveness to her. Where would Johnny be without his meal ticket, anyway?

Muskie - Clinton moment!!
In one of the 92 presidential debates Ralph Nader criticized one of Hillary's funny money deals, and Bill Clinton sensing trouble, immediately jumped on Nader for attacking "my wife". Clinton's intent never was to defend Hillary, it was to change the subject. And dontcha know? It worked!! Nader was taken aback, and shut down his attack, which the media never picked up.
Kerry knows no one is interested in attacking his wife, he just wants a ready excuse to falsely claim they are doing that when he needs to attack Bush.

Boy, you're not kidding! By summer I am going to be a raving lunatic!

LOL!!!!
We've got a guy coming Friday to plow up a quarter acre.........I've got lots of planting to do.
And the outside of the house also needs to be painted and we need to put a new roof on.......etc., etc., .....I have lots of things to keep me occupied this summer.
Now if I could just bring myself to not crank up the volume on the TV or radio so I can hear it when I am outside, I'd be doing much better.

"They're going to have to go through me." I can see it now: Kerry gets into a fistfight with someone, break a fingernail, and tries applying for another Purple Heart.

Yes, I thought that press conference with the viet nam vets talking about Kerry would be a killer.
Unfortunately, the timing was bad as the pictures came out the next day and the media turned happily to that.
Whether they would have covered the vets anyway or not, we'll never know, but they're not going away.
It'll come up again after all this other stuff dies down.

She doesn't pull her punches," Kerry said in one television interview when asked if Republicans were targeting his wife. Let's see...Teresa gets to mouth off and denigrate and insult anyone she pleases because "she doesn't pull her punches".
And of course, the reporter evidently framed a question sympathetically asking if the big old mean Republicans were targeting his wife. Good grief! Did the idiot hear what Mrs. Heinz has been saying about people? It isn't nice.
Geeze Louise.

Uh, Earth to Hanoi John: Your wife fired the first salvo by charging that Vice President Cheney is unpatriotic! Are you really this stupid, Hanoi John?
