Forced conversion to Islam fatal for Christian boy

New incident reveals frightening trend

Lahore (AsiaNews/Ucan) - Outrage at the death of a Catholic boy forced to convert to Islam at the hands of torturous abductors has prompted the Pakistan Catholic Bishop's Commission of Justice and Peace, to take up the legal case. The Christian youth died of injuries inflicted by a teacher and students at an Islamic school. The National Commission for Justice and Peace declared May 4th that the incident reflects a worrying trend of forced conversions.

Javed Anjum, an 18-year-old commerce student was seized by a teacher and students of Jamia Hassan bin Almurtaza Madrasa (an Islamic religious school) on April 17th when he stopped for a drink of water at a nearby tap in Toba Tek Singh, 310 kilometres south of Islamabad. For five days he was tortured until his condition became so serious that the abusers took him to a police station, stating that he had been attempting to steal an electric water pump, and filed a charge of robbery against him. The boy was kept in police custody until April 24th, when he was finally taken for medical treatment. By that time, according to the Bishop's Commission investigation, it was too late to save him. Anjum died May 2nd, in a nearby Faisalabad hospital, of "renal failure", having also suffered broken ribs and loss of eyesight.

According to the Bishop's Commission, police refused to investigate the cause of Anjum's injuries, or the allegation against him. Chairman of the Commission, Peter Jacob said on May 7th that officials at the Islamic school tried to create an impression that Anjum was a drug addict, and now local Muslim political leaders are supporting and protecting the school. "It only shows how desperate and aware the perpetrators are of their crime and what they had done, that they tried through various allegations to cover it up."

The Bishop's Commission claimed, "Religious intolerance and discrimination is the reason behind the recent incidents where young non-Muslims were forcibly converted and circumcised." In November another Pakistan Catholic boy, 15-year-old Zeeshan Gill, was abducted by a Muslim classmate and forced to convert. He was threatened and beaten by Islamic clerics and made to attend religious classes at Madrasa Jamia al Qasim al Aloom, an Islamic boarding school. He eventually escaped from his captors, but he and his mother and brother have since been in hiding for fear of death.

Beyond its concern for justice in Anjum's case, the Church's commission urged the government of the Punjab province to "take long-term steps to root out religious hatred and take timely action against the perpetrators of hate crimes in accordance with the law."

"We appeal to the federal government to ensure equality of rights and opportunities, which is the only way to build a society based on justice, peace, and human rights," the commission's statement said.

The official teaching of Islam condemns forced conversions of others.

Christians are frequently called idolators by Muslims, Catholics and Orthodox in particular--and one of the reasons that Muslim art is so crushingly dreary and boring is that it allows no representation of most of nature--no people, animals, little flora--only curling designs. This comes from the proscription against idolatry.

re: I don't want to bug you unmercifully about this question, but I want to make clear what I'm asking and then ask you to support your statement about Mohammed saying its ok to lie to infidels and Muslims believing its ok to lie to infidels.

I suppose I will continue not understanding the significance of what you ask--this is a disctinction without a difference. A straining at gnats. If Muslims don't obey Mohammed, they risk death and hell. Islam is Mohammed. What he says goes--right?

re: Except those of the idolaters with whom you made an agreement, and who have not failed you in anything and have not supported anyone against you.)))

Big chunky loophole. It still looks like Islam to me--abject defeat and submission. To wit:

Look at this verse--"As long as the idolators behave with your perfect approval, refrain from murder and massacre and rape." This means the West can't help Jews without expecting airliners to go crashing into skyscrapers. The Medina Mohammed sang a different tune from the Mecca Mohammed--but then, the Medina Mohammed had an army to lop off the heads of those who offended.

re: The charge of pedophilia against Mohammed rests solely, I think, on hadith that set Aisha's age at time of marriage as 9. Based on other Hadith she was 18 or 28. Is there any way of resolving this?)))

I believe the Khomeni, a Shia Mullah, brought back into legal practice (or, allowability) of marrying little girls. The Shah had outlawed same, but Khomeni was following what scholars claimed was law. This time, it would appear that Shia and Sunni agree.

And Aisha was betrothed and wed at *six*--the marriage was consummated at age nine.

As for 18/28--by my math, she was seventeen when he died. Actually, Aisha is one of the few interesting characters in the life of Mohammed, seemed to have some wit and spirit. According to some legends, Mohammed died because he was weakened by poison from a Jewish captive--a captive he made into one of his concubines, after he murdered her father at Medina.

To add to your post, I'd love to see translations and transcripts of the leading Islamic clerics posted on the major news sites. I'd like to see quotes from their sermons posted or broadcast over the media outlets.

Not holding my breath.

I could care less about resoliving the problems of Islam, apart from bombing them back to Hades where they originated. But here is an authoritative source for the doubters.

Volume 7, Book 62, Number 64: Sahih Bukhari [the most venerated and authentic Islamic source] ~ ~ Narrated 'Aisha: that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old, and then she remained with him for nine years (i.e. till his death).

Volume 8, Book 73, Number 151:

"Narrated 'Aisha: I used to play with the dolls in the presence of the Prophet, and my girl friends also used to play with me. When Allah's Apostle used to enter (my dwelling place) they used to hide themselves, BUT the Prophet would call them to join and play with me. (The playing with the dolls and similar images is forbidden, but it was allowed for 'Aisha at that time, as she was a little girl, not yet reached the age of puberty.) (Fateh-al-Bari page 143, Vol.13)"

Your precious mohammed was nothing but a stinking pedophile

As for how Islam was spread, it was certainly helped by conquest,

What is this, a joke? I don't have time for comedy. In 636 Islamic/Arab armies conquered Syria. Not long after that Persia was conquered, and then the greater part of Egypt fell to the Islamic hordes. From there the wars against Christian Byzantium occurred, and much land was eventually taken from the Eastern Roman Empire Christians. Then the Christian 'Balkans'. NONE of these lands were Islamic prior to the invasions of the terrorist Moslems, but everything they conquered eventually became Islamic. This was due primarily to the uncomfortable life that was thrust upon the vanquished, such as intolerably high taxes, murders and general oppression. Conversion to Islam was the only answer to this tactic used by the barbaric Muslim slime. These animals eventually thrust themselves into France, but were repelled under the leadership of Charles Martel. The 400 + years of occupation of Christian Spain by Islam is, (I hope), general knowledge of the reader.

"but, obviously, they don't kill all Christians and Jews in Muslim lands."

Of course, dead men dont pay taxes. However, over the last 7 years approximately 160,000 Christians PER YEAR have been killed by Muslims, in the Sudan, Rwanda, Somalia, America, the Philippines, Indonesia, and elsewhere.

"Since 1948 and the expulsion of the Arabs from Palestine, relations have gotten much worse, of course."

There is no such place as "Palestine", it has always been Israel, as history so readily records.

"About Mohammed being a "robber". What is your source on this?"

I'm out of time, your questions are not worth another precious moment. Islam is a 'religion' of no hope, no redemption and perpetual misery.

"I was very surprised you listed Rwanda..."

Scratch Rwanda if you choose, but add Nigeria and Macedonia to the list, (and probably a dozen others).

By Terence Sheridan, Pacific News Service Article Dated 10/10/2001

"Not that I think America is always right. Macedonians did everything the Americans asked us to do during the Kosovo civil war and the NATO bombing. We set up camps for Albanian refugees from Kosovo, treated them like fragile glass, and now look what is happening. Our Albanians, led by Kosovo (Muslim) Albanians, are killing Macedonian Christians. Does anyone doubt that someday Albania, Kosovo and part of Macedonia will be one big (Islamic)Albania?

By Mike Oboh KANO, Nigeria, May 11 (Reuters) - "Rioting Nigerian Muslims killed at least 11 Christians and set two churches ablaze in the northern city of Kano on Tuesday, in a reprisal for the slaying of hundreds of Muslims in central Nigeria last week"

I'm sure you can also add to this list.
