I cant find this anywhere, even MSNBC doesnt have it on there site. But a Uncle of a Spc being charged in the Iraqi Abuse scandal told MSNBC the names of the Senators who ignored his plea for help on ths issue. Hillary Clinton, Evan Bayh, Sen Akaya(?), Sen Byrd, Ben Nelson and some others. One told him that he wasnt a direct relative so they couldnt help him, and Sen Byrd told him that he doesnt respond to emails less than 500 words! Lets all call them to step down for covering up the story!

We need a copy of the letters, and verification of it's authenticity. Then we can run with it. I won't pass along gossip.

Aother thread was up earlier about this:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1132632/posts
Col. Hackworth has the letter that was sent to 17 Senators. He said he would release this today. So far nothing has been released. It sounds as if Col. Hack (who hates the President and supported Wes Clark) decided against releasing the names of the senators (list is quite heavy with democrats).
Supposedly the uncle tried to blackmail the senators into getting the charges dropped against his nephew or he would publish the pictures. No Senator replied to his letter so he went to O'Reilly and Hackworth.

Supposedly Hackworth said he was going to name "the notorious 17".

Rush made a comment last week that Hitlarly might regret what she aid.
See here.

Yes, I agree, demand a public apology from these Senators for their callous lack of response. These Senators could have saved the country a lot of pain and embarassment if they had taken the time to listen to this man.

Please allow me to be the first to say, this doesn't pass the sniff test.
As if those democrats named wouldn't have jumped on the story as a way to beat up Bush.
Sorry, need a bit more info on this.

Rush is talking about this right now. Someone named "Lawson" said he sent letters to 17 senators earlier this year with no response, finally, in frustration, called Hackworth.

No wonder Evan Bayh has been all over the air waves. He wanted Secretary Rumsfeld to step down and then Bayh back tracked. I figured it was because of the polls in Rumsfeld favor. What a hypocrite he is!

Rush said it was in the Saturday NYT.

Lawson was on the phone with MSNBC this morning. I heard a bit of the replay.
He said he did write to Warner since he's the chairman of the Armed Services committee.
He then went on to say he wrote specifically to dems because he felt they would be sympathetic to his story.
I need to see the letter. If it's generic, so what. If it contains information that was not public at the time and could have been used by the dems to form a plan to use against the administration (which after all was the uncle's point---get his nephew off as just following orders that were condoned by the administration, is the defense they were trying to mount) then we may have an intriguing turn of events here.

This would be great if it turns out to be true, but, my main reservation about the authenticity of this is: Why would the leftist senators (Byrd, Hitlery, etc.) not jump on this immediately if they had been informed? I'm not questioning your sincerity in posting this, just asking a question...

Now wait a minute. Is this like one of those on-line stories that is supposed to be legit but there are no names, dates or facts so the story can be checked out?
Trust me, I'd love for this to be true but give us something to substantiate this claim. There's a lot of gullible (stupid) people out there who believe anything they read online.
Just the facts man, just the facts. I find it hard to believe that if this was legit it would not be picked up by Fox News, Newsmax, Matt Drudge or someone.

As if those democrats named wouldn't have jumped on the story as a way to beat up Bush. From his statement:
"The irony, Mr. Lawson said, is that the public spectacle might have been avoided if the military and the federal government had been responsive to his claims that his nephew was simply following orders. Mr. Lawson said he sent letters to 17 members of Congress about the case earlier this year, with virtually no response, and that he ultimately contacted Mr. Hackworth's Web site out of frustration, leading him to cooperate with a consultant for "60 Minutes II."
