Washington Whispers-The Daddy Deferment

Look for Kerry campaign surrogates to step up attacks on Vice President Dick Cheney's five Vietnam War deferments, a strategy that began last week when Teresa Heinz Kerry called the veep 'unpatriotic.'

Veterans for Kerry, a campaign support group, is using humor to hit Cheney in suggesting that he had a child to duck the war.

'I never knew that Cheney was the first hippie,' said one.

'He made love so that he didn't have to make war.'

I don't see this strategy working at all, if this is the best their side has to offer-they are in big trouble!

Kerry asked for deferment to study in France and was denied.

nothing means more to this group of A-Ho!es than the white house. They will say or do anything. I don't think people will like this kind of attack, not just conservatives, I think it'll have a negative affect. Those people like my son who is 25 will not look kindly on this...those who don't know what Viet Nam was.

The argument should be who supports our military more!! It's an idiotic argument since the Dims didn't think it was an important issue when Clinton ran for president. Cheney and Rush have always been big supporters of our defence, whereas Clinton and Kerry are on opposite poles.

In other words, another week wasted for the Kerry campaign, making pointless and empty personal attacks when there are lots of real issues to discuss. It amazes me that the liberals can claim that the public favors them on the issues, when that is belied by the fact that they waste valuable and non-recoverable time resorting to stuff like this.

My husband had the nerve to say that Cheney was a "draft dodger". What I found ironic was that my husband said he did all he could to fail his physical so he wouldn't get drafted (he didn't serve either). If Cheney was a draft dodger what does that make Clinton and my husband?

Hah, they have nothing to say about the future so they're whining about the past.

Sounds like plan???????

Agree. There were thousands if not millions of young men starting families in those days - they still got married before their children were born in those days - and/or in school.

I don't have the actual percentage but have heard that less than 5% of Americans have ever served in the military (this figure is used when the libs insist that only those who served can even comment on the military, war etc.)

Way to p!ss off even more voters, dims.

However, I don't expect the WH to be ready to counter this with anything.

So the lib's think that their self proclaimed war criminal is better? It still burns me up that nobody has gotten F'n Kerry to say who his fellow war criminals were...like the admitted rapist he personally knew..or why he did nothing to stop the abuses he personally performed and witnessed. Amazing....I'm getting really wound up just trying to type this...

Nope. BJ Clinton used the Oxford Dodge and they defended him.

Your husband's in a better position as although he dodged the draft he isn't willingly sending people overseas to fight for him.

Actually, he doesn't mind having people die for him. He is all annoyed that when the WTC towers fell, he lost reception of his favorite radio station. He didn't care than thousands died. In fact, he says we should "get over it already."

"Nope. BJ Clinton used the Oxford Dodge and they defended him."

This will be the point of contention. The easiest way to make Kerry irrelevant is to play back his comments in the senate where serving in the military is irrelevant.

This is a McAuliffe play to further damage Kerry.

Hillary to the green room please.

Yes, Kerry seeking a deferment is fair game now if this happens, when he claims he sought to go. And I then think it is about time Republican 'surrogates' start making a case about Kerry's after war activities and lies, point out how Kerry came back and maligned and undermined the US effort-that the commie leaders used his words as propaganda, get word of his anti-American book 'New American Soldier' and point out how he mocks the flag throughout.
