Those prisoners have it better than some American inmates right here in the good ole USA. In Sheriff Joke's Tent City in Phoenix, inmates can't smoke AT ALL. They aren't allowed to play sports, they can only wear shower shoes, and their leaky tents have l fan each for over 20 occupants -- NOT individual cells like these terrorists. In addition, last year 5 inmates died under suspicious circumstances in 5 months.
So why is the media and the left so outraged about the treatment of prisoners at Abu Ghraib -- people who would as soon kill us as look at us -- and not about the treatment of American inmates in this country?
Maybe because Bush isn't to "blame" for the latter?

I didn't see it earlier so glad to see it here. It's great to read unfiltered, sensible, Iraqi sentiment. Obviously, it should be printed on the front page of the NYTimes and WashPost. I guess not in our lifetime.

Blogs are great for getting unfiltered news. I've been sampling the Iraqi bloggers ever since the story got big and was surprised and pleased to find that, while most deplored it (as most here do) several took precisely this attitude.

So you think that these events are isolated? ... -As far as I know and from what Ive seen, Im sure that they are isolated. Good, then we can easily correct the abuses and get on with the war.

Ping, please.
This article needs some major ping lists, so it doesn't get lost, as Freepers enjoy Mother's Day.

The Abu Gharib Iraqis knew before:
Human Shredding in Abu Ghraib Prison
"... the remaining prisoners had been killed; stood in trenches up to their waists and shot through the head. ... victims were taken from dark and overcrowded cells to the execution block with its ceiling hooks and levers that catapulted them to a grisly death in the pits below. Some were still alive. The guards then broke their necks by standing on them. ... some of the torture equipment: a chiropractors couch wired to administer electric shocks, the weights and pulleys used to apply pain. "

BTTT --- This needs to be widely read. I've found the Iraqi bloggers at times to be much better at journalism than than their American counterparts. It is a matter of focus. Our journalists have been trained to look for the negative and chew on it until "something is done about it". In this case, if the so-called journalists had not wanted to "do something about it" by pushing their negative view and get the photos before the American public, the military would have been able to actually "do something about it" effectively.
While we are all aghast at the photos from inside the prison, asking ourselves "How could they done this?" --- I'll post this example of another photo showing witnesses aghast--- one it seems many journalists want to forget.

The U.S. military isn't Saddam.
We aren't Saddam. We aren't in the same league. I don't want us to be compared to that monster.
This article shows that the Iraqi prisoners are treated as we expect them to be treated. We know the crap that went on in those photos wasn't the "norm". That may be a surprise to these Iraqi's talking about life in the prison, but it isn't to us.
