Catholics Against Kerry

At Catholics Against Kerry, we encourage Catholics to consider several questions when they vote:
1) Are Senator Kerrys political positions, campaign themes, and voting records Catholic positions, themes, and records?
2) Should Catholic charities and hospitals be forced to provide contraceptives and abortions? California and New York both require Catholic Charities to provide contraceptive insurance coverage. Now the people behind these bills want to force Catholic hospitals to provide abortions. Kerry states that he supports requiring insurance plans to cover contraception and he cosponsored a bill requiring all Catholic employers to provide all forms of birth control, including the abortifacient morning after pill. This bill allowed no religious exemption, not even the hyper narrow exemption provided in the California law. Why is John Kerry demanding that Catholics either abandon their charitable actions or abandon their faith? Why cant we be left alone to help people?
3) When Senator Kerry votes in favor of the most gruesome form of abortion, marches in parades with pro-abortion forces, spends time visiting Planned Parenthood clinics, and speaks before militant pro-abortion groups like NARAL, are his actions consistent with your Catholic values?
4) Does your faith support same sex marriage? Senator Kerry voted against the Defense of Marriage Act and supports homosexual civil unions. Two years ago when he wasnt running for president John Kerry co-signed a letter opposing a proposed Massachusetts Constitutional amendment that would have prevented the Massachusetts Courts from recently imposing same sex marriage on an unwilling population. Are these actions consistent with your values?
5) Do you go to Church to worship or to be seen? As one of many Catholic photo ops, the Kerry campaign called reporters days before Easter Sunday to tell them where he was going to Mass, ensuring photographers for a Catholic photo op, and ensuring newspaper headlines like "Kerry Attends Easter Services and Receives Holy Communion." Why must it be political fodder that a Catholic attends Mass on Easter?
6) If, as Senator Kerry has, you made public statements contradicting the Holy Father to politically distance yourself from the Catholic Church, would you then ask Catholics to vote for you because you are "one of us"?
We dont wish to judge Senator Kerrys heart. However, as Catholics we have an obligation to judge his politics to determine if we support his candidacy or not. We have to ask questions, and hold our own answers up to the light and weigh them. Is John Kerry the candidate a genuine Catholic candidate or a genuine threat to Catholic values? Is John Kerry "one of us'?
Catholics are a key voting block in this election. We encourage you to:

FYI: This website was started by Catholic lay people, not by the Catholic Church. I don't think the Catholic Church is allowed to be political. (Probably that Church and State separation thing which is NOT in the constitution.)
The website is excellent and by what I have read, so far, is consistent with Church teachings.

Is this group: "Catholics against Kerry" a strong, influencial group? I guess what I'm asking is do they have much clout for influencing the election? I sure hope so.

I sure hope they are influential, too. Only time will tell. The more people that know about this website, the more influential it will be.
Of course, the CINOs won't care, but not all Catholics are CINOs.

Thank you for the ping. I will visit the site.
Your tagline is spot on. When people are dehumanized, they are vulnerable to maltreatment of all kinds -genocide, abortion and slavery to name a few.

I would like to mention one more, Euthanasia.

Slavery was justifed by claiming the victims were not people; abortion is justified that way today. - Agreed! they were also pro choice in those days!
"The great principle is the right of everyone to judge and decide for himself, whether a thing is right or wrong, whether it would be good or evil for them to adopt it; and the right of free action, the right of free thought, the right of free judgement upon the question is dearer to every true American than any other under a free government. ... It is no answer to this argument to say that [it] is an evil and hence should not be tolerated. You must allow the people to decide for themselves."
Stephen Douglas, 1858 in reponse to a comment that slavery was evil (the comment was made by Abraham Lincoln)
..and yes Douglas was a democrat.

I am a Catholic against Kerry. He is an ugly POS!
Imagine the scandal of that big pr*ck rescinding the ban on partial birth abortion (the procedure in which the abortionist stabs the back of the head of a full term baby's head and then suctions out its brains.)
The Bishops need to come out right now and condemn Kerry in no uncertain terms. They should tell the American people that Kerry is NOT a Catholic in good standing. They need to do it before its too late.

Ditto.
The group Catholic Answers once presented a list of the 'big five.' Five positions which no Catholic could, in conscience, support.
The article is here:
http://www.catholic.com/library/voters_guide.asp To sum up, they are: Abortion , Euthanasia, Fetal Stem Cell Research, Human Cloning, Homosexual "Marriage".
Guess where Kerry stands on every one?
Awww. You guessed!
(In all fairness, Kerry is not 'officially' for Homosexual Marriage. He IS for arranging the playing field, to use a metaphor, so that the HM faction has the ball, unlimited downs, a fresh offensive line every down, and the defensive line is 9 Franciscan monks and two Sisters of Christian Charity. But he's not FOR Homosexual Marriage. Not exactly. Not today, anyway.)

So even in the middle 1800's Dems were confused, it seems.
"Slavery was justifed by claiming the victims were not people; abortion is justified that way today."
So, if one is against slavery, it is only logical to also be against abortion.
Also, I found out about this website through a priest that writes for Newsmax. I hope countless Catholics discover this website (CatholicsAgainstKerry.org) so they know what this man stands for. In fact, if we all write a letter to the editor and mention this website, many more Catholics will discover this fine website.

That is a GREAT article from suntimes.com. I just had to copy a few paragraphs and post it:
Sen. Kerry is a reincarnation of Stephen Douglas
May 1, 2004
BY THOMAS ROESER
He was ''personally opposed, but'' -- the nation's most prominent pro-choicer. A nationally known U.S. senator. Straddled the most divisive domestic issue of his day. Sought the presidency by flip-flopping to please all sides. Beset by clergymen he charged were mixing politics with religion. Married a controversial heiress whose vast holdings spurred severe criticism.
John Kerry? Sounds like him, but guess again.
It was Stephen A. Douglas, who served as Illinois senator for 14 years (1847-61). The biography of a flip-flopper by Robert Johannsen (Stephen A. Douglas, University of Illinois Press: 1997) takes on an even greater relevance in light of today's political struggle over war, abortion and other issues, where Kerry twists first one way, then another. Vermont-born Douglas mistakenly thought he could craft a middle-course solution to the slavery issue that could please powerful interests in the South as well as the North -- both of which he needed to get elected president. At first, Douglas played his street-smarts brilliantly: moving to Illinois, settling in Downstate Quincy, parlaying his scant legal training by winning election as Morgan County state's attorney. Then on to Illinois secretary of state, state House of Representatives, state Supreme Court justice and U.S. House before arriving at the U.S. Senate at age 34. Contrasted to the Douglas hare, Abraham Lincoln was a pathetically slow tortoise.
Along the way, Douglas married Martha Martin, whose father owned cotton plantations in North Carolina and Mississippi. The old man owned slaves and wanted to give the couple a plantation as a wedding present. No-no-no, said the senator, conscious of the political liability. Keep the ownership and will it to us at death. Then, with his fortune secure, Douglas burnished his Senate credentials and plotted for the presidency.
