TROP™: A Religion Hijacked (Or maybe it's just the nature of the beast!)

I have returned to Canada after two weeks in Britain, the land of my birth and home for my first 26 years. While I was away, my column about the various and vile crimes being commited in the name of Islam was published.
I received massive e-mail support, but also the usual threats and accusations of Islamophobia.
How I wish they'd make up their minds. Am I "a Christian prostitute lying for the devil" or "a pig in the pay of the Jews"? It's getting so bad, I no longer know what to put on my passport!
I learned long ago it doesn't matter how much one distinguishes between Islam and its followers, how much one calls for justice in the Middle East, how much one opposes the Iraq war, how much one says Islamic militants are in the minority the haters still generalize. Frankly, I couldn't care less any more.
I'll say it again, one last time. At this point in history there is no other faith under whose banner so many acts of terrorism and carnage are committed. It is a self-evident truth, a simple and obvious fact, that non-Muslims do terrible things, but not usually in the name of a religion. Yes, there have been acts of violence specifically in the name of other faiths, but they are few indeed.
Western powers, leaders and people sometimes act immorally. But they seldom scream their theology as they do so. Again, it is not me who sees Islam behind so much bloodshed, but Muslims who proudly claim it.
Yet this contrived concept of Islamophobia is an interesting one. If someone hated Muslims for being Muslim, that would indeed be a vile thing, even a disorder. But for someone to fear and be concerned about sadistic international terror is surely not a phobia at all but downright common sense.

islam is to muslims what an abusive husband is to a battered wife.

I don't know where anyone got the idea that Islam means "peace." The literal translation of "Islam" is not peace, it's submission. Any religion that demands subjugation is not a peaceful religion. Period.

And may I add that many of these muslims were at one time Christian who went rotten either because they were forced to or because it was to their benefit to do so.
I agree...they need to be saved.

May I make a polite request? *Please* don't excerpt unless you're required to do so. Are you aware of how much legal saber-rattling directed at Jim Robinson and FR these days? Seems every jagoff and their sister from every major and minor media outlet is going after FR's posting their full articles.
Hell, in a couple of cases, we can't even excerpt now. All we can do is post a link to the article.

Then again, maybe we just need to play it safe...

Amen!!! Today's Muslims are really potential Christians needing to be evanglized. Funny how AnnCoulter got this exactly right on 9/12/2001. Smart lady!

In the title I thought you were talking about President Bush Hijacking Evangelical Christians in order to get elected and re-elected? Seeing as he's failed to overturn abortion on demand and allows unchecked immigration into the USA cause it's good for business. My mistake?

"islam is to muslims what an abusive husband is to a battered wife."
Islam is to muslims what Nazism was to Germans.

My mistake? You'll have to direct the question to quidnunc.
It's his thread.

Islam is to muslims what Nazism was to Germans. islam is far worse. For one thing it doesn't recognize civilians.
