Spy charges dropped, but fear remains Chaplain's kin feel `like the enemy'

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Fears that her husband, Army Capt. James Yee, could face the death penalty have vanished. FBI agents have stopped their surprise visits to question her. Even the neighbors in their tree-lined apartment complex in this tranquil town have started to greet her again after months of treating her like a traitor to America.

Huda Yee's husband no longer faces key charges the Army had lodged against him, and he is scheduled to resume his duties as chaplain at Ft. Lewis, Wash., on Monday. But now she says the couple faces a far greater challenge: How to live as Muslims in America.

"Muslims are made to feel like the enemy. We can't go some places. There are borders to our life here," Huda Yee, a 29-year-old Palestinian from Syria, said.

"Arabs think America is a free country. That you can do whatever you want, but that's not the case," she said, as her soft voice dropped and her eyes grew sad.

Huda Yee's sentiments reflect those felt by many Muslims across the nation. They say the case against James Yee, a Muslim Army chaplain accused of spying for alleged Al Qaeda militants detained at Guantanamo Bay, has made them feel more alienated from American society, at a time of increasing hate crimes against Muslims and deteriorating relations between the United States and the broader Islamic world.

Go away, Huda Yee, a 29-year-old Palestinian from Syria, America is not a Palestinian refugee camp.

Why were the charges dropped? I believe they caught him with fairly detailed sketches of the cell blocks.

From this article, I take it that reduced charges are still pending.

I believe, in a time of war, you don't take chances with people in your own ranks who do the things Yee did.

This is a time of increasing hate crimes by Muslims against Americans and their allies around the world.
ARGH! I HATE this idiotic reporting!

The ONLY reason some charges were dropped is because by going to an open trial Military secrets & methods would have been revealed. NEVER was it EVER said that this puke was innocent. He is a dirtbag of the lowest degree.

The charges should not have been dropped or reduced. The proceedings (a military court martial) should be held under a strict umbrella of security.

If found guilty (which I believe he is) then he should be executed plain and simple.

We will pay a higher price of we let traitors like this skate for any reason IMHO.

"Muslims are made to feel like the enemy.

That's because they are the enemy. If they aren't who are we fighting?

He was held for a long time under very tight security (in the brig at Charleston), so I suspect that we got what we needed from him. He was probably guilty of passing information, but after a few weeks in the brig, he no doubt told us important details, such as who he passed it to, etc.

He's useless to his Muzzie co-conspirators now, and they may even find a way to make him go meet his 72 virgins.

All charges were dropped. Even the reprimand for adultery and downloading pronography were dismissed.

This case clearly was knee-jerk reaction by the military on some imaginary threat. A clear case of miscarriage of justice.

Oh dear me, another victim of life in America. Please take a number, Huda, and get in line. Your reparations check may arrive sometime in the 23rd century.

excerpts from terrorist-sympathizing NY Times article regarding the arrest of Brandon Mayfield, a Muslim lawyer in Portland:

Arrest in Bombing Inquiry Was Rushed, Officials Say
By SARAH KERSHAW and DAVID JOHNSTON

Published: May 8, 2004

...The law enforcement officials said they were afraid that Mr. Mayfield, who is originally from Kansas, might become a fugitive if he knew he was under suspicion. So monitoring that was just getting started was abruptly halted. Mr. Mayfield was arrested before investigators had fully examined his phone records, before they knew if he had ever met with any of the bombing suspects, before they knew if he had ever traveled to Spain or elsewhere overseas.

......Only a few weeks ago, AvNell Mayfield (his mom) said, Mr. Mayfield was telling her how upset he was by the case of Capt. James Yee, a Muslim Army chaplain who had been accused of espionage before charges were dropped. Captain Yee and Mr. Mayfield had both been stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington State and had crossed paths while stationed in Germany, she said.

"He thought that was so unfair, that our government could ruin a person like that and no public apologies were made," Mrs. Mayfield, a seventh-grade art teacher, said. "I never thought it would happen to my family."

And the clear and present danger to America is from...Christian Serbs?

This gal should pack her bags and go to live in some Palestinian settlement.
Then she'd have Israeli to b-tch about.

Oh, I forgot that as a Muslim she almost surely does b-tch about Israel already.
