You left out that he is a lawyer. Do you think he will try to represent himself?

It should be relatively easy to determine if this man was in Spain.

He wasn't in Spain. His fingerprints were on a plastic shopping bag that had held some of the detonators. When the fingerprints didn't match anything Interpol had for Europe or the Middle East, they were sent to the FBI, who discovered that they matched this Muslim convert's grubby little paw prints. (He did not have a criminal record, but the fingerprint base includes persons fingerprinted for things such as military ID, etc.)

Islam is a religion of peace. Everyone knows that radical right wing evangelicals are the real religion of violence and hatred.

If he was never in Spain, then how did a bag with detonators have his prints? This opens up a line of speculation that is really awful, once you consider it.

I agree. Obviously, the bag was brought to Spain by somebody who visited him here in the US. BTW, I have not yet seen an article that reports the name of the supermarket that appeared on the shopping bag - personally, I suspect that it was an American store, and probably gave the Interpol folks a major clue.

A poster on another related thread described a visit by Moroccan government representatives to OR in February. If I can find it, I'll ping you to it.

"(He did not have a criminal record, but the fingerprint base includes persons fingerprinted for things such as military ID, etc.)"

Attorneys are fingerprinted before taking the bar exam.

An immigration lawyer.

Mayfield is being represented now by his "friend and mentor" Tom Nelson who I think is also a convert to Islam and was on Hardball Wednesday night (the night before this Mayfield arrest) with his newest client before his friend Mayfield got arrested: A guy suing the U.S. Army for....prison abuse in Iraq.

What are you talking about? It is no secret he is a convert to Islam.

In addition to his house, they searched the mosque he attends.

He used to be in the Army. In fact he was based in Germany for a bit. He also was at the same place as John Mohammed at the same time (Fort Lewis?). I think that's where they got the fingerprints...his Army records.
