My husband has said that Kerry has done one good thing.
My husband is a newsreporter, and in his line, a lot of time is spent covering local events, tributes, gatherings that concern noone outside of the reading area.
He has covered hundreds of Veteran's events, many at the VA Center here. He repeatedly tells of grown men crying, hugging, standing tall, and many times only having each other to lean on. He means all veterans, but specifically, he is talking about Vietnam Veterans. He strongly believes these men have been shunted aside for so long, what with the war being hijacked by lefties and the veterans being called baby killers, etc.
He says the only good Kerry has done is he has reopened the discussion on Vietnam, and has allowed a group of men, who went and fought when called upon, to retake their tarnished image, which they did not deserve in the first place.
My husband is not a cryer (thank goodness), but he could barely finish talking about this. Especially talking about all the veterans over the years, who, even though their reputation on whole has been dragged through the mud, still hold their heads high and still love each other, their brothers. Made me cry too, but I'll cry at a fabric softner commercial, so...

That theme runs deep in the correspondence we've received at WinterSoldier.com; that Kerry's candidacy gives a generation of troops one last chance to refute the slander against their service, and set the record straight.
