About the on;y good that can come from this farce is that any soldiers convicted, and there are guilty one, probably won't do time

Rummy set the table for this today so when they yell later he can point to this briefing.

This is the original release where everyone in the world was told of a problem ... So how can anyone say they didn't know.

This whole thing is starting to stink. Not because of what was done, but because of what is now being done.

CENTCOM PRESS RELEASE ...

January 16, 2004
Release Number: 04-01-43

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DETAINEE TREATMENT INVESTIGATION

BAGHDAD, Iraq – An investigation has been initiated into reported incidents of detainee abuse at a Coalition Forces detention facility. The release of specific information concerning the incidents could hinder the investigation, which is in its early stages. The investigation will be conducted in a thorough and professional manner. The Coalition is committed to treating all persons under its control with dignity, respect and humanity. Lt. Gen. Ricardo S. Sanchez, the Commanding General, has reiterated this requirement to all members of CJTF-7.

Agree...it's very relevant to know who "leaked" these classified photos, not to mention who happened to take them in the first place.

If "cooler heads" ever prevail, this will all be seen "in context". I'm nevertheless horrified at the damage already done, and it's not going to get "cleaned up" during the "week-end news cycle". I find it shocking that so-called "concerned people" continue to flog this story, and even embellish it, in order to attack Rumsfeld's DoD and the Bush administration...the dozen or so miscreants are already being brought to justice, and it does appear that in most cases no significant physical torture occurred. I wish these people had as much faith in the likelihood of finding the "missing WMD's" as they do in widely condemning the military for "abuses" on a large scale based on the "evidence" we've seen thus far! What I find unbelievable though, is the willingness to put our soldiers and civilian workers in Iraq and the Middle East(and maybe even here "at home in the Western world") at increased risk...Krauthammer wrote something along the lines of "Bin Laden couldn't have planned a better photo op himself", and it really makes me wonder!

Maica, how can I become a member of "RAM"? ;)

I said I was joining a class action suit alsoor their revelations of info/pics in an ongoing investigation....and also that we would go after CBS for their Anti-American/Anti-freedom stance.

I think you are right about the media and how they would act during WWII if it were to happen today.

We are seeing it right before our eyes right now.

[my feedback]

The photos of Iraqi detainees and US service personnel that you aired were said this morning at the Senate hearing to have been from classified secret documents.

I consider that your decision was directly harmful to our troops in harm's way around our most dangerous world.

Because of this I will not be watching any CBS program again, until I hear of an apology from the highest level of your corporation.

It's 60 minutes 11 on the choose category.

My Email began with"Have you no shame?",included that I was sad they would choose commercial value over the lives of our troops .

I added that I hoped the criminals could be prosecuted and can't successfully claim extreme prejudice because of CBS's airing of the pictures.

I sent SeeBS an email. Told them I was waiting for an apology to our troops for endangering their lives and emboldening our enemies. I won't hold my breath for a response from them.

"RATHER AND CBS HAVE SHOWN POOR JUDGEMENT BY POURING MORE FUEL ON THE FIRE IN THE WAR ON TERROR THAT THREATENS THE LIVES OF ALL AMERICANS WHETHER SERVING IN THE ARMED FORCES OR AS CIVILIANS TRAVELING ABROARD."

Mr. Blather is more concerned about ratings. CBS should be shut down during war time.

Bet they wouldn't cover Earl Warren's California concentration camps of US citizens of Japanese descent.

Exactly, I think an investigation is needed regarding the media's role in harming our soldiers. I want to know who did this. We need to write our representatives and demand the media explain there accountability as well. There is just too much biasness to let them go without explanation. The light needs to shine both ways in this case.

This is a Hillary Clinton hack...

Sidney Blumenthal writes:
See http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,1210589,00.html

"Bush has created what is in effect a gulag. It stretches from prisons in Afghanistan to Iraq, from Guantánamo to secret CIA prisons around the world. There are perhaps 10,000 people being held in Iraq, 1,000 in Afghanistan and almost 700 in Guantánamo, but no one knows the exact numbers. The law as it applies to them is whatever the executive deems necessary. There has been nothing like this system since the fall of the Soviet Union. The US military embraced the Geneva conventions after the second world war, because applying them to prisoners of war protects American soldiers. But the Bush administration, in an internal fight, trumped its argument by designating those at Guantánamo "enemy combatants". Rumsfeld extended this system - "a legal black hole", according to Human Rights Watch - to Afghanistan and then Iraq, openly rejecting the conventions. "

What you, and others, might consider doing, would be to send an e-mail to Letterman...He hates the CBS bigshots, and always take a shot at them...if he got a bunch of emails..sayig theyr'e from his fans, but they can't watch the show any more becuase he's on CBS..well..it could be fun...
