Kerry has to voluntarily quit prior to the nomination for this to happen. Yeah, but is that part of the plan? This morning on the Today Show, Lisa Myers did a report on the Kerry videos (1971, Meet the Press 2001) and did a comparison of what Kerry said both times. It wasn't flattering.

Kerry's life expectation would be the same has that of a beer at a frat party He would probably last long enough to get past inauguration by a decent interval then his prostate cancer would come back and do him in, probably overnight. It's all in the autopsy and Foster's autopsist is still around, I think.

...and the realization sinks in that Kerry's been just another
useful idiot, lucky that nothing worse happened to him...hmmmmm. Could happen.
Remember that movie Body Heat--one of my favorite movies. What I liked most was the way it showed how unbelievably devious and manipulative it is possible for someone to be. Most people would not imagine that such could be possible, and, once all was accomplished, most people would not believe what had happened.
There are people just that smart, just that audacious, self-confident, and destined for success. They seem to have a sixth sense that leads them, and they "do...what is necessary" (to quote the movie).
It's possible.

Dope smoking paranoia. The mechanics of changing the ballots in 50 states, the majority of which are controlled by the R's makes this some weird horror fantasy. Kerry has to voluntarily quit prior to the nomination for this to happen. THere's been a lot of testing the waters on last minute ballot switches though hasn't there. If Hitlery could never win a normal fair general election for President, she needs to be given an unfair, illegal, emotionally charged, chaotic, inscrutible electoral opportunity.

I consider this scenario as fatally flawed. I don't think Hillary! believes that she has a chance to win in 2004. She wants Kerry to lose to clear the Democrat decks for her in 2008.
However, your comment about not being able to "change the ballots" that late in the process is incorrect. I remind you that Senator Eagleton withdrew as the nominated Veep under George McGovern, when it came out that Eagleton had had electroshock therapy. (The American public was not ready for a Veep who had been wired up to a car battery.)
R. Sargeant Shriver was then inserted as the Veep nominee by the Party. The Party duly notified the state officials. The ballots were then changed. And the ticket then appeared on all ballots (and crashed and burned in the election).
So, this is possible, but not probable.

Actually, none of what the article posited would be legally problematic. If the Presidential nominee drops out or dies, the VP nominee takes his place. That said, it's pretty unlikely a Pres nominee would drop out if he had any chance of winning (and who doesn't always see himself as having a chance?). Of course, threats of ruining a daughter's wedding with fake lesbian photos apparently worked once, but JFK2 isn't mentally unbalanced like Perot.

I still think that, just before the Dum convention, there will be a bombshell dropped on Kerry. This will be information so devestating that kerry will have to be dumped. ( His ego will never let him withdraw).
The Dums will suddenly be without a nominee. They will be looking for a savior who can beat that awful Bush.
Hillary will reluctantly step forward, and allow herself to be drafted.
This, of course, after tearfully accepting New Yorkers' release from her promise to serve the full six years of her Senate term.
For the good of the country, you know.

Believe me, I don't. What I'm watching in this political "passion play" centers more on the methods and the means. We ALL KNOW Hilde-beast's motives and ambitions - that would have to be the world's worst-kept secret! (No matter how profuse she objects).
I enjoy reading the conspiracy theories as much as the next guy, but notice that there is little value in most of it (other than a well deserved blowing off steam).
When it comes to Hillary!, I firmly believe that we all should sleep with one eye open!

And there are only three or so weeks for her enemies to do their worst. ...which is very little. Don't forget: there is 2 MONTHS before the election when her opponents are muted, thanks to McCain-Feingold. Infinite free time for her supporters (left-leaning news media outlets can promote her all they want), vs. official opponents scrabbling for what little "hard money" remains (nobody else is allowed to run political ads 60 days before the election, and the Supreme Court has upheld it).
To: ride the whirlwind
Isn't there another factor that could work in Hillary's favor if all the above occurs......something about an election law that forbids personal attacks 30-60(?) days prior to the election?

because that move would cut short
Hillary's own time.
As VP she'll get
eight years, then, as Prez, eight more.

I dunno if you can find transcripts. I tried to find one the other day, but had no luck. I've been flippin' over to FOX after local news, but I was doin' something else this mornin' when I caught it.

Another possibility is for VEEP hillary to wait until AFTER the election to clandestinely potty all over a newly elected kerry with those "....things which could be rather damaging". Then, kerry could be Nixoned-out as hillary assumes the office she is "entitled" to.
